Whining noise?

Hello, did some searching and didn't come up with anything so I hope this hasn't been asked before.

I just got 6272 on the road within the last few days (5speed, bit less than 18K miles) Anyways, I've put maybe 10km's on it now, and I can notice a whining noise. Not extremely noticeable in the car, but when I have the windows down, and especially noticeable in the subdivision when it can echo off the houses, curbs etc. Dam small windows, hard to get a grip on what end of the car its coming from. Seems more passenger side, but I suppose that sides closer to the curb.
seems most noticeable when decelerating/costing down the hill by my house

-noise picks up with speed
-clutch in or out, no change
-no change coasting in neutral
-doesn't seem to matter what gear

I had wondered if it was a noisy angle drive at first, disabled it, no change. Could just be getting worse but seemed to get louder when it go warm.

Thinking its time for a trans fluid change, but I'm somewhat at a loss as to what to do next.

the car doesn't much like going into 1st when still rolling, and when it will go in you get a bit of a clunk (not a grind)

Wheel bearings

You can usually isolate wheel bearings by swerving the car from side to side a bit at 30 mph or so (wherever you hear it). If the noise gets louder on a left turn, it's the right side. If it goes away on a left turn, it's the left side. And vice versa.

If it is the fronts you can often "feel" it in the steering. The backs will show up more in your butt.

Thanks guys! I shall have a look into them, my drivers is a touch lose and I haven't got into them yet, I didn't really suspect them as generally when I've heard a wheel bearing it's been more growling, this is more whining (I know noises are hard on the interweb). But I'll go for a spin with the doors open, Purhaps get the go pro's stuck on the car see if I can pick up the noise when severing etc.
I haven't even got the car over 35-40mph but see seems smooth aside from a slight vibe in the front braking (warped rotor I'm assuming or still working the rust off, hasn't moved in a while.)

Have you met up with any other local Ontario owners yet to have a look at things? Tech Day is at the end of May if I'm not mistaken. Let me know if you need a hand doing anything with your car between now and then. I could use an excuse to go for a drive.

cool thanks, I had sorter thought it may only have one, I have one, but do have 2 other bungs welded into the exhaust.

Drove around a bunch more, convinced its in the rear, dose not seem to respond to swerving. Did notice well doing an oil change, grabbed the axels, one moves in and out as it should, no slop up down, and no noise when rocking back and forth. The drivers side on the other hand, doesn't appare to have much slop but when rocking back in forth it clacks.

yup sure am! thanks! I've talked to a few, but haven't met up with anyone yet. Just got it on the rd Thursday, was hoping to drive it to the Lindsay flea market car show next weekend.

+1 on the wheel bearing, one of mine was badly worn and making a horrible noise. It was the passenger side.

Those are factory test ports. Should have somewhat un-removable bolts in them.
