While working one of my accounts yesterday, one of the boys in detail came over and asked me if I knew anything about baby birds. He had one wrapped in a cloth and didn't know what to do with it. I looked at it and it didn't quite look like he had made it to fledgling stage yet so I asked him what happened.

Apparently there was a nest under the gutter and 2 birds worked themselves out and fell about 15' onto very hot pavement. It was sunny and 85 degrees about 2pm so you can imagine. One of the birds didn't make it and the other was flopping around suffering. Now you would think anyone with half a heart would at least get him off the pavement to ease his pain but not f#%&ING car salesmen. 3 of them were just standing over him, watching and pulling drags on their cigs like it was some kind of entertainment for them. When the detail boy walked by and saw what was going on he just stepped in, not knowing what to do next, but knowing he wanted to help.

I have a huge soft spot for most all animals. This was no fledgling yet and I don't think he was being forced out of the nest. There was no mother around and absolutely no way to get him back into the nest, in fact I believe the metal roof was so hot yesterday they fell trying to escape the heat. I decided it was in the bird's bet interest to come with me and the detail guy was glad to release him to my care.

I thought he might be injured from the fall but he seemed lively. Once home that evening I identified him as a sparrow and looked up if it was safe for them to eat and what to feed them. He loves tiny worms. Last night I looked up local wildlife preserves and found one that just happened to be in the city I go to today...so he is going there for until he is ready to fend for himself. I visited their website and I think it would be poor taste to bring them more work without making a donation, so I will bring them some needed materials and a monetary gift as well.

I was a bit surprised he made it through the night. I thought if he gets through the night he may be OK and he was looking a bit more chipper this morning. Here is little "Amos"...he's ugly as can be but you can't help but to feel sorry for the little guy. He had a rough day yesterday.

Still pisses me of about the sales staff. I swear car salesman are scum. They care about nothing unless there is something in it for them. They will not walk more than 30' unless they can find a golf cart to carry them. They are selfish, tight with money (dont get me started on how they acted in a charity silent auction event I attended). They huddle around the lot in groups and bs each other on how much they think they know and apparently they love to watch small animals suffer. There are a few that I really respect and admire...but I have never seen the good ones aimlessly driving about in a cart or sneaking around back for a smoke. I am friends with a few honest and decent people who happen to be car salesmen...but the good ones are the exception.

As a fellow animal lover I say, good work; well done. Please provide any further information you may get from the preserve.

Amos was dropped off this morning and he is going to be fine. No injury that she could see. The caretaker told me he was infact a young starling and is quite a few weeks from being ready to be on his own so I'm glad he is with someone who knows better than me. She took him to put some fluids in and I left her with a nice little donation check and enjoyed a nice relaxing drive to work on a beautiful sunny morning.

I'm a car salesman and I HATE any sort of ignorance towards animals and I despise anyone who commits any level of animal cruelty. Don't generalize.

.... Don't generalize.
I see you've passed down your command...now let's see you enforce it.
Car salesmen suck

Well that's nice of you to do that for a bird. But it's pretty silly to quite literally hate everyone that sells cars. I worked at a Dealership before as a Porter and Detailer, there were douchy salesmen and there were really nice salesmen. With that type of thinking/logic, you might as well hate everyone as they are somehow tied to something. I might as well be held responsible for GM's ignition switch since it was done by an engineer back in 2001-ish, even though I'm elec engineer that didn't start my career until 2012 at Nissan. lol

Indeed, I hate all because they may be a car salesman. Honestly, most people at least have seen one of these creatures. Many have even touched one unsuspectingly with a "hand shake"...the thought of it makes me too ill to continue writing.

Nice work on the birdy

Maybe you should read my last paragraph again. I didn't say all, in fact I went on to express that not all salesman were like that but you didnt read that did you? I did later generalize because I soon realized I could touch a nerve with someone else who just "skimmed over" my post. Just another problem with our culture...no 100% commitment to anything. Let's work on our reading comprehension skills.

I LOVE animals - nice job on taking care of the bird

I HATE non-empathetic people, whatever their occupation may be - especially when such is displayed towards animals, as animals are completely innocent.

All of the people who fail to display at least a mutual respect of animals should be rounded up and banished to live here for the rest of their days:

OK, now that I had a few minutes to think about what I previously posted, I think that I may have been a little unfair to the old DDR... after all, they did have one hell of a national anthem!

Actually, my reading comprehension is fine. Let's examine what you said in some detail. "Still pisses me of about the sales staff. I swear car salesman are scum. They care about nothing unless there is something in it for them. They will not walk more than 30' unless they can find a golf cart to carry them. They are selfish, tight with money (dont get me started on how they acted in a charity silent auction event I attended). Basically, you started off by saying car salesman are scum, which means you generalized all sales people. By saying there are a few you know personally that are good people, only exempts those people but still generalizes every other Salesmen. You could argue you said the good ones are the exception, but that does not generalize anything saying there are salesmen that are good people, simply you know exceptions. What you said and what you meant to say are two different things.

Also, why attack someone about it(or touch a nerve)? I don't remember seeing pezzonovante88 saying anything ill towards you, he simply asked not to generalize.

Let's examine what you said in some detail.

No thread in the history of the Internet has ended well after a post that starts with this line.

Michael, good on you for taking care of that lil' guy. I have a massively huge heart for animals, and it .....it angers me 3 guys just stood around and watched that lil bird struggle. Good on you, man.

As for the rest of this thread - take it to PMs. Generalizations were made, wrong things were said. Figure it out through PMs from here. I'll let this thread stay open for anyone who wants to genuinely contribute.

What are we arguing about here? Why does someone always get their feathers ruffled (pun intended, that's funny)? Is there nothing better to do than nit pick what Michael said, who gives a f@&. I think he was just venting at the stupidity and lack of compassion these people (who happen to be used car salesman) showed. I think we should just generalize this to most humans so no one gets upset.

It really pisses me off when people don't give two shits about suffering animals.

People that are nice to animals are also nice to other people.
I love animals and I will do anything to help one in distress.

If you can't love an animal you are not going to do well with people...

OP should have said "Some people can be Assholes".... and we know they can, does not really matter what they do for a living. Stand back, and you will see... the OP was just venting and pissed off at "Those" salesmen... We all know how that goes, so we can cut him some slack... There are a lot more good guys than bad in my experance.
