What's a logic box?

I noticed my horn wasn't functioning... Fuse 6 was loose and not making good contact. I happened to notice this fuse also controls the hazard lights and the "logic box."

What's the logic box? I searched the forum and found zilch.

Its mounted to the steering column. Next to the buzzer and flasher. At least this is what I understand.

I believe it combines the two electrical currents from the door plunger switch and the key/ignition switch in order to trigger the buzzer unit, as the buzzer should only work when the door is open (switch closed, circuit completed) AND the key is in the ignition (switch closed, circuit completed).

It is a component that makes timetravel possible. Add the FC and you are good to go. :wink:

Or it brings balance in the rest of illogical stuff happening on the car (like 1 + (-1) = 0).

Sorry, I had to get this out when reading the post. I also have no idea what it does and I am happy that at least a little bit of logic is in this car. Even if it is hidden above my steering column. :rolleyes1:

It IS the buzzer. Not sure what the "logic" part is, I think it's supposed to buzz if the engine is on until you buckle the driver seat belt but I've never actually bothered to see if it works that way. My feeling is that it usually doesn't.

Mine buzzes whenever the key is in the ignition and the door is open, regardless of seat belt orientation.

Only mention of the buzzer in the owner's manual (the early spiral bound tabbed one) is page 6, wherein it states:

"A buzzer sounds if key is left in ignition switch and the driver's door is opened."

The fact that it doesn't work in conjunction with the seat belt is very annoying at drive-thru's, which caused me to primarily run my car with the door plunger switch disconnected.

If you really wanted to it wouldn't be hard to change the setup so that the seatbelt switch DID work in conjunction with the door plunger in addition to the ignition key sense...

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but it's still a lot more work than just unplugging the plunger switch - but perhaps a good future rainy day project :thumbup:

It wouldn't be so bad if it were not that obnoxious noise. It reminds me of Jim Carry in "Dumb and Dumber" annoying noise scene. If it were a soft tone like most newer cars it would be much more tolerable...but I still prefer silence. When the day comes that I can't remember my keys I need to stop driving.

Mine buzzes only when you first start it and when the key is in but not on. If my door is open and the key is in any pos other than off, it won't buzz. Just like modern cars really.
