Window runs off track

I replaced the motor on my passenger side window, now the window keeps coming off track when I open the window just past halfway. The window jumps free from the rear track at that point. I've now re-tracked the window 3 times (hey i'm getting good at this - but slightly annoyed), each time i made sure it was properly tracked.

Any idea what could cause this?

That happen to mine also, turns out my glass had come unglued from the metal bracket that is spose to hold it in the right place. i got a new metal bracket with the glass glued in.

To elaborate on Tom's post- the glass is glued to a metal carrier. It has to be positioned exactly correct, and the glass is marked with dimples to show where it's centered.

For some reason we have not quite figured out, over time (as in 25 years!) the glass moves in the carrier. This positions it further rearward than it should be, and as you close the window it is forced out of the track.

The only solution is to remove the glass from the carrier and re-glue it with window urethane. (heat the track to loosen the glue, but the art here is to heat it enough to soften the glue but not explode the glass.). OR as Tom mentioned buy a new piece of glass already glued in place to a carrier.

thanks, but my window sits fine closed. it runs off track when opening. just about 2/3rd open. it used to work fine before swapping the window regulator so my bet it on the placement of the anchor bolt.

Yes - if the bolt that holds the regulator to the back of the door handle bracket is in the wrong location it might force it off the track. Take the regulator off the window an run it up and down by hand. It should move relatively freely and center itself in the channel as you push it closed.

still no success. i'm going to see if adjusting the tracks fixes my issues.
