I tried using toothpaste to polish my clear plastic instrument cluster cover and made it worse.
Anybody have a cheap & easy fix, or do I need to buy one and replace it?

As long as it is out of the cluster, you can wet sand stating with 1000. Then 1500, 2000, 3000, then buff it out with a light compound. Should be crystal clear at that point

They sell plastic polish at the auto store to clean up the headlights. Should work.

This is the plastic polish I've used in the past and it works incredibly well. I sanded out some deep scratches with 600 grit, wet sanded at 1000 and 2000 then used a cordless drill with a buffing wheel.

I just did mine the other day, wet sanded with 1200 then polished with a buffer (I work at a body shop so I have a good big one, but as mentioned u can get a small one for a drill.
Then hand rubbed the with the plastx mentioned above and finished with a coat of wax

I really like the Novus line of plastic polishes. They make different types. A sign shop or acrylic supplier will have it. Depending on the depth and severity of the scratches you may be able to get away with not using sandpaper.
