Has anyone ever rebuilt the rheostat on the center console?

I heard that there is a rebuild kit??

How did you get the back off of the rheostat?

Are you sure you're not thinking of the HVAC mode switch? I don't think the rheostat has a rebuild kit, but it's $100 from DMCH

DMCH is selling the rheostats for $48. In their description they say that a rebuild kit is available, but I can't find it.

The rheostats also fail in a way that they keep spinning and won't stop after a full turn. For this, DMCH used to sell a rebuild kit that fixed it (called a rheostat stop). That may be what you are thinking of. But if another part of the rheostat broke, it used to be you were out of luck. I saw their new replacement at DCS on Saturday. Looks like they managed to find a cross-over that would physically fit. They added some additional wiring to make it plug-n-play with the stock harness though. I was surprised when I was looking at their tables and ran across this part as I wasn't aware of it. They usually make a big deal about now having a part that was previously unavailable for so long.

I too saw the new rheostat. I bought it and plugged it in. Problem solved!
