Stainless Alternator Tension Bracket

Has anyone used one of the stainless adjustable alternator brackets? If so any challenges with them?

There are a few different ones that have been produced. Also is a solution with parts bought from stock. I have the parts bought from stock and had no problems with it. Matt on DMCtoday has been building some brackets which look like a good design.

I have the DMCToday one and it works great even when I swapped alternators from stock to Hervey's

I also bought the one on eBay and it doesn't fit on my stock alternator.
Anyway, like it's an old one, I have ordered a new D140 from John Hervey.

Depending on which alternator you're using you may have to swap out one of the bolts. Other than that, I've had no problems with mine.

I just installed the one I bought from Matt over on the DMCtoday forums. The alternator in my car is not the stock unit, so I had to get a little creative with the mount. After lying under the car with my son for about 45 minutes, we ended up making a trip to Lowes for some extra SS bolts and some shimming washers. I actually mounted the bracket upside down, but it works absolutely perfect.

That d140 lasted two weeks in my car and then it was somehow my fault that it died.

But anyway I purchased the DMCTODAY bracket as well. Haven't put it in but it looks really well made. I have DMCH 140 Amp alternator. Plan on putting it in soon.

Don't know. it ate a belt as well. All i know the shop told me it was dead. They installed and they removed it. I had to flatbed it to the shop.

They put in my DMCH 140 alternator and its been working solid for nearly two years. It ate a belt too though about a year after installed.

My alternator story is similar to papanoel's. I bought a Hervey alternator and kept it as a spare, as the age of the alternator on my car when I bought it was unknown. Hervey's alternator sat on a closet shelf for several months, untouched and unused, until I needed it. After I installed it, it was dead in less than 1,000 miles and one month of use. I bought an alternator from Houston after that, and haven't had a problem with it.
