I sent 12 volts to the fuel pump and ran it until we built pressure. So far NO LEAKS!![emoji2]
The coolant system under pressure with pur new HF test kit.

The last thing we did before spending some time cleaning up and putting tools away was install the throttle spool assembly.

This is a fun little job. You need to make adjustments to the throttle linkage rod and the full throttle microswitch. From what I can tell you basically want the throttle spool to rest against its stopper at idle. The idle switch need to be fully switched but not bottomed out and similar for the full throttle switch...at full throttle of course.

Tightening the tiny bolts on the full throttle microswitch had to be done with needlenose pliers because I didn't own a wrench small enough to fit the bolts. They are smaller than 5mm.

We worked on the car from 5p-8p tonight. Mondays are always rough days for us owning a small business. It's hard to not just go home, veg out, and drink something with alcohol in it. But we managed to make the transition.

We have been running the fuel pump by running it directly off the battery and wondering why things in the fuel system aren't doing what they should be. I decided to stop going this route and instead get more of the car together so we can power up the fuel pump through the wiring in the car.
Tonight we focused on the front harness for the fuel pump, horns, radiator fans, etc.
The harness was in decent shape but needed some repairs, clean up, and delphi weatherpack connectors installed.

Plug connector looked pretty good.

I observed which colored wires went where on the new fuel level sending unit, read the installation instructions, and made sure I was going to have the right colors in the right spots.

I striped the wires back and of course the wires were black so I cleaned up the copper with sandcloth.

The first crimp I did came up all screwed up. I was pretty upset because I didn't think I had any spare connector inserts but it turned out I had four extras due to Josh sending me both halves of the weatherpack connectors for our new radiator fans. The next connector worked but not without a fight.

I was using the most recent crimpers I had bought online.

I ruined the next connector I tried to install. I couldn't seem to get these to work right. So frustrating but I was glad to have spares. I went back to another set of crimpers and got some perfect crimps which was rewarding.

So that connector was done. You can see the mouse chewed through ground wire. I'll get to that later.
While I was doing this stuff Tam was cleaning the other end of the harness and re-wrapping it.

I decided to just clean up this ground connection rather than replace it. I admire the fact that they actually soldered these big ones onto the wires.

I replaced the chewed up ground wire.

I cut off the horn connectors and installed new heat shrink connectors.

Next I looked at the rad fans on the car to see which way the wires go. One side was black and the other blue. I didn't have a blue on the harness but I did have a black so I assumed that the blacks where the negative/ground wire.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2ec583630a.jpg
On the harness end there is two wires under each connection point in the plug. That wasn't going to happen with these tiny connections so I found some #14 black and #14 blue wire to use.

I used these connectors to go from a #16 and a #18 to one #14. It worked slick. I love these connectors.

The finished product ready to go back in the car.
Does anyone know what the long ground wire that exits the harness near the fuel pump actually goes to? I obviously I know it goes to ground but where? Why is it so long?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1227058a9a.jpg

Tonight we worked on the car from 4-7P. I started with trying to install the front wiring harness...the one that goes to the horns, fuel pump, etc.
I wanted to make sure I routed it correctly, grounds in the right places, etc. So I looked through my pictures from when we took the car apart. Then I remembered that I didn't know that the front harness unplugged from the main harness so I had unplugged it from each individual connection and unscrewed every ground then yanked it out before removing my frame so I have no good pics of the routing, ground locations, clip locations etc.
I did plug in the fuel pump and fuel level plugs.

Tam was messing around with the coolant system again because it lost pressure since yesterday. I told her that it is probably good enough to add coolant. It's only dropping like 1 psi per hour.

This is a good before picture of the coolant tank area.
