What I did to my DeLorean today.
Today got new tires, will have them mounted and balanced tomorrow, and then install them on the car. Should make a ton of difference as the ones I'm replacing are only 24 years old, are weather checked, and lumpy.
Yesterday, I removed the wheels and tires to give the wheels a thorough cleaning inside and out getting them ready for the new tires and clean the wheel wells. I went a bit farther while it was up in the air I decided to do a thorough under carriage cleaning from stem to stern. What a difference - looks like brand new!
The steering wheel was showing signs of sun fading/discoloring from just getting old and used. The steering wheel wasn't cracked or peeling and there was no indication of the wheel deteriorating - just sort of discolored - mostly at the top (12 o'clock). I bought a spray can of black interior paint, sprayed paint on a foam brush and painted the wheel. WOW! Looks like new!
Kansas City opened an automobile museum a few weeks ago and the open house will be Father's Day weekend. They will have a BTTF DeLorean on display and mine will be used for a "Ride-A-Long". Can hardly wait.
