I installed new silverstar headlights and the new pump/sender combo unit.

Car idling without any issues and only 2 gallons of gas in the tank. Never would have run properly this low on gas before:

That is what I've been saying for years. What finally got me to pull the trigger was another round of stuttering and issues with my stock setup even after I had replaced the stock internals with OEM style replacements. When that happened, my wife didn't want to ride in the car again for a long while for fear of being stranded. I'm hopeful this is the permanent solution.Quote:

Yes, I gave the tank a cleaning. I did a full cleaning a few years back when I replaced all the internals the first time so this was more of a touch up. There was some rubber that deteriorated from the original boot, but not a lot. I still cleaned it out again with acetone, used the shop vac to pick up any small particulates, and did the white glove test to make sure I got it all. Not half as bad as when I did it a few years back. There was thick goo I had to scrape out back then.Quote:
