I pushed the shifter arm seal into the transmission tailpiece and it fit way too loose. So I put some Hylomar on it to try to seal it in. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...507f26013e.jpg

I tried to use zip ties to compress the spring.
If your ever worked on this part of a Delorean transmission then you know how miserable this job is.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8db035d557.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...32552415c9.jpg

We managed to get the spring keepers in on one side and had to cut and remove the zip ties...they didn't really work as we had hoped.
This job sucks so bad. Ended up having to put a zip tie are the second set of keepers to get them to stay put while we released the spring. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...db3337902a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4919fe5642.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2841892ea4.jpg

So after an hour of skun fingers, cursing, yelling, etc. We finally got all of the spring keepers installed. Then...we realized we were supposed to install the shifter lever onto the shaft FIRST BEFORE INSTALLING THE SPRING KEEPERS!!!! #$&@!!![emoji36]
So we had to do the whole job all over again. [emoji849] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bd2007cca6.jpg

This the part where I realized that we forgot to put the shifter fork on the 5th gear. I refused to strap the transmission back down, break torqued nuts loose again, etc.
Instead we drove out the roll pin so we could take the assembly apart to install. After the pin was back in we installed a second pin inside the regular pin.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6b79c0875f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4160d3638f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b6829c1679.jpg

Installed the tailpiece with a new gasket and hylomar on both case surfaces and all new bolts and washers. Installed 5th gear detent spring with hylomar on the cap threads.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5677659af6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a644fba7ca.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...88c07fec87.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2bfd75b396.jpg

I bought a replacement cable support bracket because it was cheap and ours was quite corroded. It doesn't seem to be shaped right though so we may just use the original one.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d014bc9267.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cbc9187d1c.jpg

Worked on the transmission for a few hours after work. Installed the differential carrier bearing locking ring with some Hylomar on the threads. We tightened until the punch marks I had put on the ring and the housing lined up. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7a1b24d705.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...aeba1e2db6.jpg
