George, you didn't happen to put your suction mount on the stainless did you? That's the only reason why I would think it wouldn't stay on. I've had my suction cup on the outside of my car up to about 65mph or so. Normally I keep it inside the car. I bought mine several years ago and it came with 3m adhesive body mounts so once I get more projects completed I will likely add a gopro mount or two to the exterior of some of my cars.
Spent the day finishing up the install of overhauled brakes and master cylinder, shocks all around and installed the new tires!! Took it for a quick ride around the property and it ran good since it really hasn't moved since 2001!!! It was a good day!!!
Drained and cleaned out my gas tank since it's been 10 years since that was last done. Waiting on my new DMCH fuel pump kit to arrive and will install it this week.

What exactly did you plasti-dip? Do tell...
Thank you,

Searched every inch of the garage and house looking for a $200 part I bought 1 year ago. Unfortunately unsuccessful, but the garage is now tidy. It has got to be here somewhere. My only remaining remedy to finding the original is to order another one. :hmm:
So much for this being a non political forum huh? Anytime I make an anti Obama statement I get PM's and my posts get removed. If you want to have a political free forum knock yourself out..but please moderate it as such. Otherwise lift the ban so we all get a voice and not just the ones who slip under the radar.
Yep I tried it on the stainless. Next attempt I'll use the glass.
So true. I only had to walk about 100' to retrieve it. I'm just glad I didn't run over it on the way back up the hill. :)
Not for over 40 years now.Quote:

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed the video! It was fun to make as well.
Yeah, the stainless is kind of hit or miss. I tried it out as well, didn't have issues with it falling off, but given the grain on the stainless I figured it wasn't an airtight seal. The first 40 seconds of this video show a couple shots taken near the wheel when attached to the front fender. Not as good of a video as the Winters drive, I was just playing around with a few different mounting points by driving around town.

Replaced a few small sections of coolant hosing that was still rubber with silicone - such as between the front bleeder valve and radiator, between rear bleeder valve and junction, etc. Also replaced runoff hose from coolant tank with a nice long length of silicone so it doesn't piss all over frame. Also added cutoff valve for rear bleeder, tightened all hoses (already did the valley when I was back in there couple months ago), etc.
Ran her for a little while to re-test for fuel/coolant/pressure leaks from recent works.
Took my D to a recreation of the "Enchantment under the sea dance" from back to the future.
There was another delorean there. Just wanted to drive by but they invited us in for free.
Photos from the event.

Fitted SpecialT's angle drive, fitted new hood struts, was going to fit SpecialT's fuel sender unit but 'may' have fixed old one. Need to test if still not working will fit SpecialT's one.

My MaxJax car lift got delivered today (only ordered it last week!) - $2000 at Costco including shipping and lift-gate delivery (ends 31 Mar 2014). Despite having a tail lift on the truck the driver needed some 2x4s to put on the arms of his pallet truck to give it some more height (the pallet arms at full height were just slightly too low to fully lift the package (800lbs) properly). He finally got it off the truck but couldn't get it on to the driveway. So I spent another 1.5 hours in the rain unpacking the shipping frame and taking the parts separately into the garage. The largest parts (the lift columns) were probably 150-200 lbs each. I used my trolley to move them around and up into the garage.
Next comes installation :)
Yeah right. If it's a tract house you'll never know (assume 3 inches over pea gravel if you are lucky), and if its a custom house that info's gone with the first owner. I've owned 4 houses and never seen prints of anything. We got prints on our building and the building doesn't match the prints in a few somewhat major features.
Years ago when I build my home garage addition I specified 5 inches per the lift maker, made it deeper (more like 7) where the lift stanchions were to go, and added 1/2" rebar in the whole floor and anchored the rebar into the foundation footings.
This is not such a huge deal on a free-standing lift like that max-jack (worst that will happen is you crack the floor), but if you are anchoring a 2-post lift to the floor it is hugely important as the lift could fall over with a car on it.
Certifying the PSI can only be done by either ensuring that 3000 psi was poured and then cured for the requisite time, or by taking a core sample from the floor and having it tested. Not terribly practical.
I drilled test holes in the concrete to test the depth. The Wej-it anchors require a depth of 4 5/8 inch, but they start 5/8 inch below flush and end up about 1/8 inch below flush as part of the setting process.
Replaced all the window switches and window motors in my new d today. Great to have working windows :)
My Wife volunteered my DeLorean for one of her coworker's wives birthday party. I picked the wife up at her house and took her to the party. I then ended up taking all the kids and a few Big Kids to for a ride around the block in the "D". My daughter gave me a Doc Brown Costume for my birthday and I wore it today. The DeLorean was the hit of the party.
My wife doesn't really like the car, she tolerates it. She could not understand why everyone was giggling, laughing and so excited about the car. One of the 15 year old girls got out of the car and was jumping up and down and dancing talking about how cool it was. She didn't get it.

Replaced my original locking gas cap with a NOS black non-locking one my wife picked up in Houston last week.
It was the first decent weather day of Spring, so I decided to visit the DeLorean and wake it up. Started right up. It hunted for idle for a few minutes, but settled shortly after (maybe 2 mins). Just drove down the street to the Shell station and put about a third of a tank of 91 in and then drove around the block before heading back to the garage to put her back under the cover. Other than the longer-than-usual idle hunting, 5875 ran as though she had been driven yesterday. I suppose this is normal after its been sitting for about four months. I'm looking forward to some consistent good weather and clear roads so I can actually bring the car home and keep it there for the season.
This year I'm planning on having the brake rotors & pads replaced, SS fuel lines installed, shift linkage adjusted to fit the gated shift plate, new SS shift lever, getting the speedo/odometer fixed, and possibly getting the door locks/rods functioning properly. Woohoo!
Bought a gas flap hood (on ebay) to swap-out on my vehicle:

Finally got the last of the brake hoses off. Wasnt near as tough as I had feared, but that drivers side rear hose gave me some trouble!
Fitted Ed's (DeLorean.eu) radiator, fitted SpecialT's Condensor and fitted DPI Fan upgrade Kit. All In all looks good and works well.

Finally dropped her back on the ground after a month and went out for a shakedown.
Adjusted the tension on my A/C belt. I used the write-up Ozzie and others put together in James' thread and it was super simple. Started the car and it all fired up quite nicely. The snow bank behind the car has almost melted enough to back the car out of the garage.
Installed a new steering rack from DMCMW (awesome!) and put the upgraded sway bar kit from DPNW. HUGE difference!! My rack was totally shot.
(Happened already two days ago but had no time to write)
Visited my friend Dave (sdg3205) and let my sweet VIN 3922 fly (put it on stands off the ground).
- Crouched underneath to check where the ATF leaks came from.
- Tightened the screws around the automatic transmission oil pan a bit more (carefully to not break the new gasket).
- Noticed a small leak at the oil light switch on the engine. (Damn!)
- Upper transmission cooling pipe/hose is "sweating" ATF (hoseclamp fix did not work)
- Fired off an email to Toby from DMC NW
We then put 3922 back on its wheels and went for an evening cruise in convoy with Dave's 3205. Nice evening after all! :headbang:
If it is still leaking ATF, a spot that was leaking on my car last season was the seal around the bottom of the dipstick tube. It snugs into a hole on the topside of the pan and has an o-ring or two to seal it. There is also a small piece of the dipstick tube acting as a bracket that lets you bolt the bottom in place. Mine had never been a problem until I left the front jacked up in the air for a few days and with the cold temps in my garage, I think the ATF started to seep past the seal.
Glad you guys in BC are getting your summer car season weather!!
