DeLorean Go - Green vs Red vs Yellow stuff pads (or OEM?)

Anyone have any advice or experience with the different kinds of upgraded brake pads Go offers? I put in OEM pads about 10 years and 12k miles ago, and am considering dropping a new set in. I haven't really had any complaints with the OEM ones, they're nothing special but they stop the car. They do tend to squeal a bit when cold, despite all the anti-squeal shims in the world.

What's the real difference between the green/red/yellow pads? Why would one pick one over the other? I see some of them call out that they aren't low dust, and given how tough the wheels are to clean I'd prefer to avoid as much dust as I can. So for that reason I'm leaning towards green.

Oh, hey cool. Thanks for that. Looks like, according to that, the Red is where I want to be. Low dust, good friction, good lifetime. Best compromise IMO. My "driving style" is "around the block a few times a month to warm it up and occasionally a 100-mile highway cruise"

I prefer the red. Worked well for me for many years on other cars besides the D.

Interesting! Wouldn’t you think more dust equals shorter lifetime?

I put green stuff on mine. Dust is more than my DMCH pads that were like 15 years old but still not bad. I figure the DeLorean with stock brakes would benefit from a step up from stock but unless I were to step up the entire brake package, I didn't need anything more for putting around country roads.

Yes the softer pads will wear out quicker just like tires. There is always a price to pay for better performance. Some of the pads out there (like some that well known parts stores sell with a lifetime warranty), are so damn hard they will wear your rotors down quicker and groove them because they have so much metal in the pad material. In a sense, you are electing to replace a more expensive and harder to change rotor than wear out a brake pad. That's like working in your bare hands to keep your gloves clean.

My 15 yr old DMCH pads with about 30k miles on them...they are barely worn! That either means they have hardened due to age or I just don't need performance brakes

That pic looks to me like you need to wash your hands before working on your brakes.

It begs the question, what car wax do you use on calipers and hubs?

His car is awesomely clean. OCD like me. :cheers: Boeshield is great for calipers and hubs.
