I always figured Doc was doing a final systems check out of public view, and that the truck had a natural tilt to allow the car to roll back.
I would suggest rewiring the car with better wire, and better grounding.

I found that my fuel pump wouldn't work recently, and the culprits look to be a bad relay and a melted inertia switch.
