Warning: Heninger & Associates Lower Ball Joint Failure

    Definitive ball joint information

The original designer of the suspension stated to me it has loading in all directions.

In the thread above it compares 3-4 different joints against stock, and certainly some VW do not fit properly, despite that they may look ok.

Apologies the thread is rather long, but it goes into great detail about the different joints.

My LCAs haven't been installed yet, but ball joints appear to be in correct orientation.

Since we're on the topic of LCA/ball joints, I was wondering a couple of things:

    1) Should there be a gap between the ball joint and the LCA pad? (see below pic) It looks like it may not be seated all the way in. Is there a clip that goes in this area?

    2) The ball joint is really difficult to move by hand. Is it supposed to be this way, or could it be that it needs more grease added? There is no grease fitting though.

Earlier tonight I confirmed that 5052's ball joints are the correct orientation. IIRC I purchased them in the summer of 2015.

Also, it looks like the DCMH ball joint in the photo has a nipple but none of the ones on peoples cars have the nipple. Is no one using the DCMH version?

You need to read the eurotec thread that Al referenced a few posts above this for all the detail.

Ha-ha, I actually read the first page of it last week and I didn't realize that it was 24 paged long! I'm guessing that's what you are referring to...

Could someone with uninstalled Heninger arms confirm the taper dimensions?
