We decided it was time to finally bolt the body to the frame. We put the four vertical bolts in first and left them loose.
Next we installed the two horizontal bolts in the pontoons. I vaguely remembered there being spacer between the body and the frame so I found some washers to put in there. It was quite a pain to get them in there and the bolt laced through them. We put two washers on each side.

I had heard that washers need to be put between the tunnel and the frame so I rolled under the car. yeah riiight. I don't see how anyone is getting washers up in there then getting a bolt through them.

So yeah...we didn't do that part.
One of the inside washers was missing so I found a washer that was a good match on I.D., O.D., and thickness.

I decided to use a fender washer over that washer on this one. Q

We torqued, the bolts that we could get a torque wrench on, down to 25 ft-lbs. The one in the right pontoon I just went wicked tight on.
One thing that really annoys me with the body mounts is how loosely the square nuts fit in the cages. I was going to make my own nuts out of bar stock but I never got around to doing it.

If anyone has a good picture or pictures of the front of the frame with the harness in place please send it my way.

Does anyone know what the long ground wire that exits the harness near the fuel pump actually goes to? I obviously I know it goes to ground but where? Why is it so long?
The very long single ground wire should go to the Fuel Filler Neck.
It gets screwed onto one of the three screws that hold the Fuel Filler Neck in place.

    Very detailed report btw.
    I really appreciate the effort!

As everyone knows by now when it comes to buying parts I like to spread the love. I have bought from DMW, DNW, DMCH,and I have bought a LOT from D-Ind.
This most recent order was from DMCH.

Each vendor has thier pros and cons. I will say that DMCH is the best for installation instructions.
I mean this is a rubber hose....look at the detailed instructions on how to install a hose!

Last night it was too nice out to work on the car. We took the Miata to our friends house for dinner and drinks.

I bought a Delorean (my first one) and it was delivered today. I have read this whole thread over the weeks waiting for my car to be shipped to me. It is amazing the work you 2 are doing. This is also a great resource for anyone doing any sort of repairs or maintenance in the future.

Thank you very much for all the detail you are putting into this thread.

We worked on the car last night for 4 hours and tonight for about the same amount of time.
Yesterday we started with replacing one of the gas filler tube bolts with a longer bolt so we could install the ground wire with a lock nut underneath.

I was not pleased with the plastic washer that I got from DMCH. The I.D. was too large, it was thicker, and had molding pocks in it.

I ended up finding a sealing washer in my shop stock that seemed to fit much better. We threw some Hylomar on the threads just for shitz.

Tam removed the clutch fluid bottle, cleaned it, and replaced the hose with the new hose from DMCH. This hose wasn't just any hose. It is actually kink proof. Pretty cool. She couldn't help but clean up and paint the bottle mounting strap.

She also painted the steering shaft.

While I was in there I decided to check the vent valve. Toot toot!
