You're never going to believe this folks but we ACTUALLY WORKED ON THE CAR TODAY!!
We worked on it from 5:30P-7:30P.
Tam worked on the rear facia trying to remove the remaining snapped off studs.

We had some parts that I wanted to have powdercoated semi-gloss black but Tammie pointed out that we had some of the good semi-gloss spray paint that we wouldn't need since we are planning on having the engine cover and louver professionally painted. Her argument was, why spend money powdercoating what we can paint in house for free. Good point I suppose although I feel powdercoated parts would have a much more durable finish.
So I decided to do like she said and just prep and paint the parts.
The front rock screen we had bought from D-Ind came unpainted. I worried about paint adhesion so I went over the whole thing with the dry blaster. It was a tight fit in the booth but did fit at an angle.

This a picture of it half done.

Parts hung up ready to paint

As usual, I blew off the parts then sprayed the parts with this stuff before painting.

I used this primer which I really liked. It went on great and I was tempted to just leave everything flat black.

I top coated with the two stage stuff.

I could not seem to get a smooth finish especially on the rock screen but fortunately it didn't really matter with the rock screen. In fact it looks like it has a textured finish which actually looks pretty cool.
I put the parts up high to dry over night.

The last thing I did is clean up the NOS part that goes in the front facia. It had some corrosion and a little surface rust here and there.

I remembered having some zinc rich paint somewhere so I grabbed that and used it to paint the part.

I painted some stainless mirrors on another project and I figured the paint wouldn?t stick. I didn?t do nearly as much prep as you and it seems to be holding up fine. In the case of the grill, I?m not sure I would want to paint it. I guess your car is very stock and might not be appropriate to leave silver, but I think it might look good.

    Anyways, great work.
    Carry on

Well we will see how it holds up. If the paint doesn't stay then I can always strip it. I don't like too much stainless steel stuff added to the car. I think the black and stainless contrast looks good.

We are still taking a break on working on the car. Partially because we were kind of burned out and partially because summer in Maine is so short. We have been going right steady all summer. We recently made the decision to get a dog after having put our last one down over a year ago. We were looking for a King Charles Cavilier Spaniel. We had had one before and it was the perfect dog for us. The breeder we went to had two pups left, brothers. I convinced my wife to get both so that they could stay together and so they would keep each other entertained, hopefully. So far they have been really good and very entertaining to watch.
They wrestle and chase each other around making all kinds of funny noises then they get tired and go to sleep.

Now that fall is here we are hoping to start working on the car again and try to get it road ready for spring of 2025. Of course now we have to figure out how to work on the car with two puppies around. It should be interesting. Here's some pictures totally unrelated to the Delorean-

    Bill & Tammy,

Congrats on the addition to your family and kudos for keeping the brothers together. Great pictures.

I have been missing your update posts I usually read every evening. But YES you both need a break from the work as it has been very intense for the both of you and working your job every day too.

Looking forward to your future posts of your car and even your new family addition! A lot of entertainment for the both of you. What did you name them?

Brown and white one is Winston (my name for him) and the tri-color one is Riley (Tam named)
No particular significance, just what popped in our heads after having them for a day.
