The new design is about as much a DeLorean as a rebadged electric Bricklin would be.
Really? It's been flooding my feed since it's release. Every tech and car news source has at least one article on it. Lots of YouTube videos etc. There's no lack of coverage for the Alpha. Curious where you are not seeing it?

Same thing was said about modern OBDII cars yet we're seeing many cars from the 90s and early 2000s as collectors.

The brilliant thing about Tesla is that it was designed to be upgraded. I can go buy a 2016 Tesla and upgrade the battery, onboard computer, sensors, etc. I did this with my 2017 Tesla X and upgraded it to the same tech as my 2020MX. With Tesla open sourcing their OS, and patents, I only expect the 3P ecosystem to explode with options. https://www.zdnet.com/article/tesla-...software-code/

On top of that, there are many companies popping up that not only repair EV batteries, but have their own flavor of batter tech to improve thermals, range, charging, weight, longevity, etc. I think it's only going to significantly grow from here.

I mean this in the nicest way (not discouraging anyone from buying a Tesla, I actually like/approve of what Musk is doing).

Sounds like another high-tech device ripe for a virus attack by hackers, sort of like smart phones.

I just saw Todd Bustillo's walk-around video on DeLorean EVolved. Wow, I was impressed by the car and the details.

    https://youtu.be/5D339F0PMKs

My first thought was, the debut vehicle should be silver, not red. But then I realized that this car wasn't designed replace/mimic the DMC-12, it's a 40 year evolution, and back in the day, they were experimenting with different colors. If this car makes it to production, there won't be anyone mistaking the original one from this one. That's a good thing. However, it retains enough DNA that one recognizes the basics. Does it look the same as our stainless steel icon? No, but a 2022 C8 Corvette doesn't look like a 1981 C3 Corvette either.

I get that some people won't like it. No worries, you do you.

I like it, and it is the closest indicator to a bright future for the marque. Best wishes on the road ahead!!

Saw this CNET review this morning. Guy does a nice job showing off some of the tech features like the ability to display the old school instrument cluster.

Where was this thing made? Or better yet, where are they planning on making them as a full production car? It would have to be somewhere other than in the Houston DMC HQ location, right, as that place is too small?

OPINION: Guy yesterday asks me what I think about the new DeLorean. I'll admit to schluffing off his question because I kinda just said nothing will ever be built or sold. I hadn't realized this was already made though as I don't go looking for news feed stuff very often. I think a few pages back Mark said he just didn't feel anything about it and I'm pretty much the same. I feel no connection to what we drive and this new car with the DeLorean name on it. And the price tags are at two very different ends of the spectrum. I find people at car shows and cruise nights find DeLorean owners approachable because we don't have that supercar price tag. I can't relate to someone with a lifestyle capable of affording a $175,000 USD toy.

The factory for this car is in Port San Antonio Texas.

I've been asked my opinion about this car a couple of times over the past few days and all I can say is, who cares? From what I understand there will only be 88 non-street legal examples built (if any are built) For all the flaws of DeLorean 1.0 at least you can actually use it as a CAR. This is one pricey piece of garage art.

If this DeLorean Reimagined goes on to make actual road legal production cars then maybe I will change my view on Alpha 5 but as of now I don't care and the name only makes me think of this: https://c.tenor.com/stG15j2QsyUAAAAC...er-rangers.gif
