    Honey, I supersized the DeLorean

Another factor that's much different between Alpha5 and DMC-12 designs: the scale/size of the Alpha 5, not yet appreciated because there are only solo photos of it so far, is quite large.

From one web review so far:
Designed by Italian design house ItalDesign, the new DeLorean Alpha5 measures 4995mm long, 2044mm long and 1370mm tall (doors closed) – about 75cm longer, 6cm wider and 20cm taller than the original 1980s DMC-12.

If accurate then the Alpha5 is approx.
    2 in. wider
    8 in. taller
    30 in. longer
    than the DMC-12.

This car will be relatively huge - within an inch or two of the Lucid Air in all dimensions but at least smaller than the new MBZ EQS.

So the Alpha5 needs to be larger because it's a 4-seater (more like a 2+2?), just like the stillborn DMC-24 would have been. But the DMC-24 or the Medusa weren't aiming 8 inches upward, I think.

    This isn't your father's DeLorean.
    March '81, 5-speed, black interior

Only good thing about a 2+2 is I should be able to get my 6-month old's car seat in the back so he can finally drive a DeLorean with dad LOL

The design played it way too safe.

My VIN:    Ask one of the online stalkers.

It's literally the 2019 ItalDesign DaVinci with a light retouch.

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

It's a slick design, but at a 175k price point, I'd likely go with a different car. It'll be interesting to see if they actually get these into production and out on the market for sale. I do like the design, though not a lot of it says delorean to me except for the doors. Sounds like a lot of people in the car community plan on buying one from what I'm seeing online. I guess you can always put a stainless wrap on it

Agreed. I'm happy with my '21 Taycan and a DeLorean. Best of both worlds.
