    Front license plate

I removed the front license plate bracket because as I was cleaning the front I noticed it would move around. Turns out those screw holes were stripped.

I decided to install the front plate without the bracket. This let me drop the plate lower and still hide the original holes used for the bracket. It also holds the plate a little closer so less chance to cut your leg when walking past.

Used two #14 x 1 inch sheet metal screws.

I despise front plates and happily never had them and never will on any of my cars. Friend in Ohio has a 458, GT-R, other nice cars and has no front plates. He says he was only stopped once in ~20 years. Warning - no ticket. I know enforcement varies from state to state but damn that rule!

agreed.. two cars without front plate. California must be the worst and ive had uniformed officers in marked cars stop and ask if they can check out the car.. they could care less about the plate....

It depends on the State and it depends on the discretion of the Officer. Often they will use a minor infraction as a reason to stop you so they can check you out. As for holes in the facia, there is a bracket you can buy (or make) that uses existing bolts for the grille. Here in New Jersey they WANT that front plate. They use it as a target for the laser to measure your speed. Very reflective so it gives them a good return signal to get an accurate speed.

    front plate....

I mounted my license to a hinge above
radiator opening. it folds away so it won't
block airflow and confuses cops when stopped.

In Minnesota if you have collector or any other of the plates they have for older cars you don't have to put on the one for the front. All the other regular plates you do.

In Washington state, there are two RCW's that state if you run a collector plate, a front plate is not required. I run a collector plate, and I have resorted to carrying a copy of each of those rcw's with my registration. I pretty much get pulled over once a year. Knock on wood, I have not gotten a ticket, although I am convinced if I did, it would get dropped pretty quickly.
