Great Thread! I'll do mine chronologically just so i don't forget anything but I'll point out my fans along the way:

1 1979 Trans AM: 301 W/ 4 speed manual. Learned how to drive stick on this car. Also learned how to install a clutch.

2 1969 Pontiac Firebird: was such a piece of junk it's barely worth mentioning.
3 1977 Firebird Formula: 403 olds, Auto. Lasted 4 mos and blew the motor
4 1980 Firebird Formula: 305 chevy, Auto. Parts car to fix the other one. Both cars eventually were junked.
5 1977 Firebird Trans AM: 400 Pontiac, Auto. Loved this car kept it for a few years and even drove it back and forth to florida Back in 1994 when I graduated high school. Nothing but fond memories of this car!
6 1988 Firebird Formula: 305, 5 spd. First fuel injected car. was an ok car not one of my favorites but fun for a little while.
7 1995 Z28 Camaro 350, 6spd. My first NEW car! Loved this car. Four of the most fun years of my life. Also the most expensive in tickets and Lawyers fees.
8 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Second new car Totally hated it. gave it to my grandfather after 6 months.
9 1981 Delorean (VIN...00774). Loved this car but it was a disaster right from the start. Rotted frame bad engine, kept it for 2 years but mostly in the garage. Only put maybe 5000 miles on this car. At this point it had nothing left to give.
10 1998 Chevy S-10 Fun little four cylinder but was 2 wheel drive and worse the the DeLo in the snow.
11 1981 Delorean (VIN..03165). This one's a long story so I'll just skip it. ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CAR EVER (and still is!)
12 1994 Mercedes 500SD I think? only had it 24 hours before I tried to get my D back.
13 2002 Toyota Celica ABSOLUTELY HATED this car! Can't stress that enough!
14 1996 Mustang Cobra 4.6 With a Five speed. This was another really great car! wish I could've kept it longer but sold it after 8 months when I went back into business for myself.
15 2003 Monte Carlo SS W/ Nascar package. This meant it had the spoilers and ground effects without the Driver's crap all over the car. Believe it or not this is my absolute second favorite car next to my D. It wasn't that fast but looked great and was incredibly comfortable and peppy to drive.

From this point on I was Married so wifey and I started buying cars together.

16 2004 GTO 5.7 Auto. This was hers But man what a cool car! Unfortunately went back on a lemon law.
17 2008 LR2 Land Rover. Not one of my Favs but she likes it so that's all i care about.
18 2005 Mini Cooper 5spd. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this car. Definitely not one of my favorites.
19 2006 GMC 3500 pickup. Great truck. but after I sold my business there was no need for it anymore plus it was a major gas guzzler!
20 1981 Delorean (VIN..03165) What's old is new again! (Again Long Story)
21 2012 Nissan Altima, My current daily driver. Great car. I Like it a hell of a lot more then i thought I would. Comfy, good on gas and brainless to maintain.

    That's it for now....

    I fall into this category.

1964 Jaguar XKE, restored with my dad. Learned everything on this car. First car in high school. Regret selling.
1962 International Scout, broke so many axles with big tires I carried spares.
    1974 International Scout, good truck
1988 Ford Bronco, good truck, rusted to bits in Canada salt.
1990 Ford Bronco, good truck I still have on the road.
1992 Ford Bronco that is completely custom, unrecognizable as a Bronco. It gets as much attention as my??
    1981 Delorean

The two Scouts and two Broncos span more than 45 years of driving.

This list doesn?t include my wife?s cars which I get to drive and pay for. You might detect a pattern here.

I love my DeLorean even more than I expected, but my favorite vehicle of all time is the 2000 Honda Magna motorcycle. It's a V4 and it was balanced so well you can put your hand on the tank and not even feel it running. Just a beautiful machine... the two exhaust pipes on each side, I have never seen on another bike. Nice low seat height, comfortable cruiser riding position, and quick enough to make you giggle every time you twist the throttle. I don't think I have the strength or courage/foolishness to enjoy one these days, but it is something I think about often.

    This looks fun, I'll bite.

    • 2003 GMC Sonoma LTE - Extended Cab, 4.3L Vortec, Dark Blue. It's currently the designated farm truck. Grandfather's truck I drove until my first vehicle.
    • 1997 Honda Civic EX - 2dr, VTEC, Silver. My 1st actual car and it was quite fun. Ended up throwing a rod through the block; replaced motor and ran for another 130k miles.
    • 2013 Jeep Patriot Latitude - Silver. Still my primary daily driver with 165k on the clock.
    • 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. 54K on the clock as of now. Best car ever.
    • 2024 Toyota Supra GR - Premium, B58E, Stratosphere Blue/2-Tone Hazelnut. Bastard is fast.

My list, only the highlights. Many other daily drivers etc. not listed:

    1955 Matchless G80CS 500cc single. Bought for $300 on my 13th birthday.
1930 Ford roadster hotrod, bought when I was 15 from my brother. Eventually had a fuel injected Chevy 327, owned 23 years.
1957 Dodge D500 convertible, dual quad hemi. Acquired when I was 17, out of a junkyard. Traded Matchless for it.
1965 VW, traded in Dodge for $100 toward it, totaled it the day before college started. Found out years later Dodge would be worth $100K today.
    1966 Mustang fastback. Great car.
1968 Corvette coupe, bought at 19, had it a fun 6 months.
1969 Mustang Mach 1, one of my all-time favorites. Wrecked it numerous times.
1931 Olds coupe, installed Toronado front drive. Sold before finishing.
1941 Ford pickup. One of the best looking trucks ever built.
1940 Buick Model 90 Limited. Huge sedan, sold before finishing.
1973 Chev Monte Carlo. Great car to drive, ate fuel pumps.
1932 Ford Victoria hot rod. Built from ground up, very nice car.
1979 Chev 2-whl dr Blazer. Great truck, put over 300K on it in over 20 years.
1981 DeLorean. Bought wrecked in 1986 for $5500, start of my business Specialty Automotive.
1975 Bricklin. Had to buy for "bookend" to DeLorean. Worst car I ever owned, sold after about 2 months.
    1981 DeLorean, $7500.
1981 DeLorean, $10,000. My daily driver for years.
1891 DeLorean. The infamous "BLWNAWY". Bought engineless for $4000, installed supercharged Chev V6 doing engine adapter, motor mounts, exhaust, and wiring myself. Great driver, owned 15 years.
1981 DeLorean. Bought for $3000 with missing A/T, sold unfinished.
1981 DeLorean, 81 miles. Found in seller's bedroom, $21K +/-. Owned 1 week, sold to Switzerland.
2001 PT Cruiser. Wife's car, loved it, put about 300K on it.
    1998 Harley, first of 3.
2000 Corvette convert. My all-time favorite, still own after 22 years.
    1981 DeLorean. Purchased for $7000.
    2007 Harley, second one.
1932 Ford roadster hot rod. Hand built from ground up. Fun car.
    1954 Chevy sedan. Wife's all-time favorite.
2000 Honda Insight. Beer can on wheels but a great commuter. Now in LeMay Family museum.
2006 Honda Goldwing. Loved it, but too heavy for my age now.
1957 Dodge D500 Hemi convertible. Intense 19-month restoration, winner of some 18 show awards.
1981 DeLorean. Re-purchased BLWNAWY, for $7501, and restored again.
2001 Harley, third one, still own.
1957 Dodge 2-door wagon. Extremely rare car, installed modern hemi, 5-spd A/T, 14" disc brakes, all the goodies. Multiple show winner, still own.

At 75 that should be the end, but I still look for orphans to rescue.
    1981 DeLorean w/supercharged Chevy V6 - purchased 1990; built '90-'95; sold 2005; re-purchased 2016; sold again 2017

Obviously that should have been "1981". No it wasn't the one from BTTF 3.

I'd love to see photos. I had the pleasure of seeing my first Christine in person recently here in SWFL. Absolute flawless example w/Hellcat running gear. Was at SEMA 2023.

Here is a lengthy thread documenting its build: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/fo...ts=104&start=1

It's also in this video, at about 22:45. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbUxUXvYajA

I did the chassis work, installed the glass, power windows, all the trim, deleted the vent windows. I had a shop do the body and paint, and wiring.

    My VIN:    2690 & 4359

This is an interesting thread. As I was thinking on it, it got me motoring down memory lane and I don't know that I've ever considered listing out all of the cars I've had before. I believe this list to be as chronologically accurate as my memory will allow:

1984 Chrysler Lebaron - First car gifted to me by my father at age 15. Realized I needed to learn how to do my own maintenance.

1985 Mazda 626 GT - First car I bought with my own money that following year because I wanted a stick shift. Continued maintenance lessons. Wish I had kept it.

1996 Mazda Miata - First car after high school. Learned about moderate bolt ons, ignition and exhaust tuning, brake and suspension work. I was 18 when I bought it and sold it less than 2 years later when I understood that I never wanted a car payment again.

1983 Mazda RX7 GSL - First rotary engine car. Wasn't a fan though it did make for an interesting donor engine to a Spitfire I would later purchase.

1976 Triumph Spitfire - Fun little british car. Wish I had kept it, particularly after the rotary engine swap.

1988 Buick Century - First $500 car I bought to keep as a daily beater while I kept toy cars for playing. This became a partial trade for my first 55 Chevy sedan.

1955 Chevrolet BelAir 4 door - First actual cool car. Still own this one and over the last 24 years I've used it to learn how to build engines, suspensions, steering components, and develop some metal fabrication skills.

1972 VW Super Beetle - Wanted a car for commuting to school four days a week, this one needed a lot of work and for whatever reason that made sense to me.

1980 Triumph TR7 - Another fun little british car. Wish I had kept it.

2001 Toyota MR2 - First current model year car I ever bought though it was still used. I was 21 and ended up meeting people in a car club that would continue to be close friends to this day. Well, the ones that are still alive at any rate. This car was not popular with young people because it possessed zero utility. Most of my car club friends were retired gear heads who enjoyed building stuff. Some friends of mine and I used it as a test case for a 2zzge/6spd swap back in 2002. This was the first time I'd done an engine swap with a deadline as I was on vacation to go visit them and hang out at the time. The 2zz may as well have been mounted with a zipper because it was in and out so much for various upgrades.

1986 Nissan 720 - Another $500 beater to keep miles off of my toy cars. Flung a rod in it after 300k miles, swapped a Cadillac 472 big block and th400 in it and then it was crushed by a tree. Pulled the 472 back out and sent the chassis on to the junkyard.

1955 Chevrolet BelAir 2 door - Built a 406 SBC that was too nice for my 4 door, bought this car as a rolling chassis to put it in. Thought I'd flip it afterwards but fell in love with stabbing the throttle to chirp the tires on the interstate. Still have it though the 350 currently in it is nothing like the angry motors it has had over the years.

1981 DeLorean - The car I had wanted to buy since I was five years old. Managed to pick one up off eBay. Flew out to Denver and drove it home. Two failed marriages later, this turd still remains the gold standard for abusive relationships in my life.

1996 Mazda Miata - Calmed down with drag racing and wanted to get back to autocross and road course stuff. Started pricing out what it would take to make the DMC competitive, in BSP of all things since it wasn't explicitly specified for another class at the time, and bought the Miata because it was cheaper.

2001 Buick Century - First marriage required a pedestrian family sedan that was an automatic so my wife could drive it. She totaled this car because she was mad at me one day. Also around this time I learned that a woman would be the most expensive thing, by orders of magnitude, I ever kept at my house. This was my first experience as an adult where I didn't always have extra money for toys and what not.

1986 K5 Blazer - Wanted something with 4wd, wasn't mature enough to just buy a normal SUV at the time. To the plus, this was a diesel and I had it running off of waste motor oil I got for free from the local parts house.

1957 Chevrolet Corvette - This was a kit car body that I used to cover a donor S10 chassis with a V8 swap for a vintage race club series. I wish I had kept it.

1958 Cadillac Eureka Hearse - It had a luggage rack for optimism and I thought it would make a decent station wagon. Wheelbase ended up being longer than the ramps on my lift. I wish I had kept it but I was going through a divorce at the time and that made money even more scarce than being married.

2000 VW TDI Beetle - It was decent little five speed that got 45-50mpg and was surprisingly utilitarian.

1993 Mazda RX7 - LS1/T56 swapped car which is the correct way to address rotary engines. This thing responded well to the modifications I put to it. I wish I had it today but it was too easy to run from the blue lights and I'd likely have ended up in someone's living room. Sold it as an act of self preservation. It wouldn't pull the front end like the tri fives but the Chevys let you know you were rocking 60 year old suspension tech when they were at speed. The FD with coil overs, by contrast, would hop up to 120 in 4th gear with plenty of on ramp and motor to spare. If there were no other cars in front it was easy to miss that it had broached confetti making speed in the event of an accident.

1964 Dodge Polara - Wanted a pedestrian family sedan that didn't require earplugs to sit in while idling. Wish I had kept this one. It was a nice car and really just needed air conditioning to be perfect.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe - Wanted a truck I could use to tow a trailer. Was also keen to own a vehicle that didn't have a dedicated startup procedure.

2001 Toyota MR2 - Wanted another MR2 for road tripping.

1994 GMC Suburban - Wanted a larger wheelbase for towing. Also a diesel that ran off of various waste oils and the like. Used this as an overlanding platform for a few mountain biking trips up and down the east coast which was fun.

2003 BMW X5 - Was waiting on the GMC's 4L80 to get rebuilt so I bought this. It is a manual transmission and that's the only reason I still have it today.

1981 DeLorean - A frame and body tub I bought originally to be a donor frame for putting a custom running gear and suspension together to put the other DeLorean body on. Some family matters occurred which kept me from focusing on my shop projects for a few years and by the time I got back to shop toys, these cars were expensive. Ended up titling it and collecting parts to rebuild over the last several years though the direction it has gone in is a bit different from what I originally intended.

2005 Honda Pilot - Was dating a single mom, she needed dependable wheels and I had enough extra chromosomes to think this was a problem I should solve.

2007 Cadillac CTS - Was waiting on the X5's engine to get rebuilt so I bought this. It was a manual transmission as well but remains the most uninspiring vehicle I've ever purchased.

2003 Toyota MR2 - It was a V6 swapped car with a lowered TRD suspension, I wanted it and bought it on a whim. Four days later my knees protested getting in and out of it enough that I put it up for sale.

1980 Triumph TR7 - I still wanted a convertible. This one is presently a rolling chassis waiting on me to put in a Firebird V6 engine I bought last year.

2021 Honda Pilot - Married that single mom. Second marriage required a reliable people hauler as she brought four crotchlings to the table and that paired well with the bonus DNA threading I was packing. Sadly this minivan, with gay back doors that don't even slide, is the only brand new car I've ever bought. In addition to the extra house I bought in preparation for the marriage, this ex wife also got both Pilots.

2009 Dodge 3500 - Injection pump on the Suburban gave up the ghost this past year, wanted another diesel truck so I bought this one because it is new enough that my friend's shop will work on it. If I turn wrenches these days, it will be an excuse to smoke a cigar and not because I need the vehicle to get me somewhere.
