Hello everbody,

I am new one, my name is Alex and I'm from Germany.

I've recently bought a DeLorean and fixed a lot of problems by myself, except a few connectors and ground cables where I couldn't find, on which place they should be connected or plugged in.

Maybe some geeks can assist me in finding out......

Hi Alex,

Welcome aboard!

Is your car a manual transmission? In your 8th and final picture, you show a black connector right up on top of the W pipe. I believe this connector is the 2nd connection to the microswitches which control the kickdown and full throttle aspects. On an automatic car, you use both, but on the manual transmission, there is only one microswitch. I believe that one on your car (if it is a manual transmission) would be okay the way it is.

A couple others look like ground wires, notably the one in the 2nd picture coming from the fuel tank sender. I'm not near my car at the moment, so I'll have to let other owners figure out some of your other wires.

Yes it is a manual ;-)

And I've already read all the ground list locations but I can't understand exactly without pictures :-(

Maybe:

6. Single ground going to the bolt that holds the Vacuum advance solenoid to the throttle body.

Could be this black ground cable....

That one with the red tag is your ECU ground and should be bolted to the intake manifold. Not sure how the car is running without it but my guess would be 'not very well'

It would help if you gave wire colors (including stripe if any).


From left to right:

3. (?See 7 below?)

6. ECU (see jawn101's post above)

7. Lower Left- Diagnostic plug (Orange: Lambda ECU, can use to set CO dwell; Purple: 12V from Fuse#12)

8. Not used on Manual Transmission (kickdown request switch harness pigtail).

ich komme aus der Delorean Stadt oder auch Wolfgang-Hank-Town ( Augsburg ) ;-

Kommenden Montag habe ich bei Wolfgang einen Termin für meinen Delo bekommen, daher versuche ich noch soviel wie möglich selbst zu beheben um Kosten zu sparen bzw. Budget für teurere Sachen wie den Motor frei zu machen. Natürlich sollte sich dann auch idealerweise der geplante "Aufenthalt" in der Werkstatt verkürzen so daß mir mehr Zeit zum Fahren bleibt....

Leider hat es mit den deutschen Foren bisher nicht so gut geklappt, weshalb ich es hier und in UK versucht habe, über das prompte Feedback kann ich nur staunen.

Hatte z.B. schon Anfang April versucht mich bei deloreans.de anzumelden, habe aber bis heute keine Aktivierung erhalten, auch nicht im Spam etc. :-(
Habe es dann mit identischem Namen ( anderer als jetzt hier ) im Forum des Deloreanclubs versucht, dort wurde ich prompt freigeschalten,
hab mich dann gleich vorgestellt aber bis auf den Peter hat niemand geschrieben, in 3 Monaten...schon ein bißchen schwach.

An dieser Stelle nochmal danke an den Peter für die nette Willkommensbotschaft :-)

Außerdem kann man die wichtigen Bereiche wie Technik nur als Clubmitglied einsehen, finde ich schade.....

Da fühle ich mich bei den Amis und Engländern deutlich wohler....

Hier wird man auch nicht wie in vielen deutschen Foren unterschiedlicher Interessen üblich ( nicht auf Delorean Foren bezogen )
ständig von "Besserwissern" belehrt:

1, stelle dich doch erst Mal vor bevor du Fragen stellst

2, benutze doch die Suchfunktion

etc.

Du kennst das ja sicher auch, solche Forenbeiträge liest man täglich im Internet.

Deshalb habe ich mich entschieden, erst mal meine Fragen im Ausland zu posten.

Freue mich aber auf alle Fälle auf ein baldiges Treffen mit dir, damit ich dich noch persönlich kennen lernen kann.
Bist ja, auch wenn ich dich nicht persönlich kenne ein bunter Hund in Deutschland.

Bisher beschränkt sich die Bekanntschaft mit deutsche Delo-Besitzern noch auf den Wolfgang und den Martin B. aus Aalen.

Übrigens, falls du einen Tipp zu meinen Bildern hast, würde ich mich sehr über einen Beitrag freuen, vor allem dieses schwarze Massekabel das aus dem Kabelstrang zum Tankgeber kommt hätte ich gerne noch vor dem Werkstattbesuch richtig angeschlossen.

Sounds like you are worried about the grounding wire in picture #5 - that one connects to any of the bolts around the fuel filler. I have taken and attached a photograph to demonstrate for you.
