I close my doors a lot with the windows down. Why is that bad to do?

I recently did this mod but used super glue to attach the magnets to the door trim. Works great!

Just did it to one of my door panels using N52 12x3mm round disc neodymium magnets using JB Kwik Cold Weld Epoxy 8276 (Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B0006O1ICY/?tag=11674-20 | Walmart: www.walmart.com/ip/seort/16494341)

We'll see if it holds well.

Wow, this sounds like a great mod! Both of my upper door panels were off the car when it was delivered and left them off since my driver's window motor needs replacing, so would be a perfect time to do this cheap and easy upgrade. Thanks Chris!

How's it holding? I'm applying the magnets to the B post door trim pieces that are not staying seated all the way with fir trees. I'll see how it goes.

I did the same in Feb of last year. Neo-D magnets epoxy/resin attached to the door cards. Works phenomenal and they have never fallen even with driving with the doors up at under 20mph

Are these B-pillar posts from DMCH, the new repro fiberglass ones? I bought one and it's so stiff that it 1) will not sit flat enough to allow all three fir trees to completely seat into the door frame and 2) is not flexible enough to tuck neatly under the inner door panel so it pushes on it so hard that it creates an unsightly gap. I had it installed for about two minutes before I removed it and meant to return it but forgot to do so. Probably won't be eligible for return anymore now. Ugh. I ended up fixing up my B-pillar , new fir trees and rotated the fabric around half an inch to mask some old damage. Looks brand new now.

No they are original. The magnets dont seem to be holding too well and maybe its due to them being vertical or not enough. I may try more magnets.

You should be able to easily release the black vinyl from the substrate using a heat gun and plastic knife, then I would replace the fir tree clips with new ones (bought some at Autozone), then reattach the vinyl with Weldwood contact cement. It's probably the old busted fir trees that are the problem.

Yea I'm going the new fir tree route for them. Magnets just don't hold well enough. Door panels are holding well and such a great idea - thanks again Chris.
