Me: Eddie, I can't wait to get the car back when you're done with it.
Eddie: Yeah, you'll be able to give the car gas, and it won't be - like - embarrassing....

This morning I started on my carpet overhaul. I've had my carpet set in the attic since spring of 2010. I was worried the mice had gotten to it since it was sitting so long, but all was well. What wasn't well was the kit itself. I'm kind of disappointed in the fit of this set from DMCH. Every piece in this set seems off. Most pieces are big and sloppy and do not fit where they are intended to go. I'm just finishing the rear parcel shelf area but so far the wheel well covers seem way too big, and the carpet that lays on top of the wooden panels is way too long so it bunches up in the middle and won't lay flat. I can't trim the edges to make it fit since the edges have the black finished piping on the sides which looks rather nice so I don't wanna lose that part of it. The vertical piece that has the cubby hole door cut out is actually short. I have pulled and stretched it across the car as much as I can and I'm still 1/2" short of where it needs to be. And then there is the cubby storage area. #1 the guy who cut the hole for the door must have used a weed whacker and unfortunately he cut away too much across the top at a real goofy angle so my Dynamat is showing. Nothing I can do to fix it. #2 The small piece inside the cubby hole was made too small. I tried to force it into position and it wouldn't go. I ended up cutting and splicing it in 2 places so everything lay where it needed to be. Wow... what a great feeling spending $700 on this stuff....
I did however reunite my cargo net with the inside of my car again. It has been 7 years but they are finally back together again!!!

Today I installed another NOS engine bay light on the opposite side and am using LED boards in each. The car should have had two installed at Dunmurry! So much more light and now you can actually check the oil level at night.

Went for a drive in the perfect weather. Got a letter in the mail from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, informing me that the registration on my 1981 vehicle was expiring soon. Somehow managed to resist their very generous offer to pay me $1000 to scrap my junker.
Never mind that it gets better mileage and probably has lower net emissions than 90% of the big ass pickup trucks in my neighborhood![]()
