Thanks! Very excited to have this done. When I first started the project only 1 of my 4 speakers was properly connected and working. Upgrading to 4 modern speakers and a nice sub has been a night and day difference!

Autozone 161LL bulb. Pack of two for $5. Assuming you're flexible, have a nice 3/8" extension and the right size socket (7mm? 8?) and no rust, it's a 15 minute job. I was lead to believe that the binnacle was a very hard thing to remove. No, it's 6 nuts, 4 washers, 2 electrical connectors and a speedo cable connector. It's really easy (again, assuming no rust, you're flexible, have the right tool, good lighting, etc).

Started with replacing the front speakers last summer, then did the rears (and picked up a sub) over the winter, now I finally got the amp installed. The sub I've had in my car for the past 8 months has finally come to life!

I'm using the XD300/1v2 amp - Thanks to Jon for the amp suggestion and install location idea.

I wanted all changes to be invisible (apart from the sub in the cubby) and easily reversible. No splicing or modifications to stock wires were done (used Video Bob's Craig harness extension to avoid splicing into stock wires). I'm running left and right front speaker level signals from the Craig to the amp, and it sounds fantastic. Couldn't be more pleased with the results.

I know in terms of modern head units the Craig may be underpowered and less sophisticated, but I can turn it up past the point of my ears hurting and it still sounds good. For those wanting to maintain an original appearance while receiving a major audio upgrade, this is a great approach.

A couple photos from the whole project:

One post on a front speaker was stripped at the end, had to use an extension (not show) to grab onto the good threads.

Sub that is in the DMC-CA cubby enclosure:

    Ready to close it up!

Completely hidden. You'd never know it was there! This amp runs exceptionally cool and needs little air circulation. However in the remote chance it would overheat, it goes into a fail safe mode that allows for reduced output. It never shuts off entirely.

Looks great! That was one smart guy whose guide you followed It's definitely going to be better than what you had....

    Made the neighbor kid happy

The 6th grader across the street asked me if I would take him to school. I did and when we got the there it was empty. He looked at me and in a sad little pout said, "There's nobody here".

So I decided I pick him up. I parked across from the crosswalk where all the kids have to go. He was really happy to see me.

While Parked there a car stopped at the stoplight, the passenger jumped out took a picture then got back in the car.
    Thanks,
    Lenny

Changed the oil and filter. Castrol 20w-50 and Bosch filter. Replaced the square drive drain plug (the square was a bit filed down) with a SpecialT magnetic plug. Fits like a charm, no drips, pressure is good.... Can't believe I've driven 3500 miles already this year even though the summer so far in Upstate NY has kinda sucked weatherwise

Sounds simple enough, thanks!! I also thought taking the binnacle out was PITA. I think I'm fairly flexible (haha a benefit of being vertically challenged!) Perhaps I'll tackle this before the winter arrives

Replaced the radiator, cooling fans, and the 4 short hoses in the front of the car. It was a complete PITA.

Added Dave M's hot start relay, replaced both door shocks, installed all my LED lights in the taillight boards.
