Volker (vps3922) and I were cruising in 3205 after 6 months of storage and we could smell burning brakes.

The front left rim was hot to the touch. Turns out the caliper was frozen up even after flushing the system before winter hibernation.

One piston came out fairly easily. The other.... not so much. Had to put it in a vice and use a vice grips and a rubber mallet for a few hours until I got it out.

New pistons, rebuild kit and braided soft lines ordered.

Put a pressure tester on the cooling system and found a leak in the VOD. This after a cooling flush and test in the fall too. Looks like I have a long weekend in front of me. Goes to show even with regular maintenance these cars still need tlc.

When I rebuilt mine I had a couple that were stuck and refused to come out.

I inserted two screw drivers, one either side, into the piston's lip and then leveraged them out. They were mighty tough, but they did very slowly slide out and undamaged.

Made some exhaust progress -- the stainless steel flanges I bought needed to have the bolt holes enlarged, so I enlarged them with a Dremel and a tile-cutting bit.

While I was under the car, I noticed a leak. Looks like part of the transmission fluid cooling system.

    Today, part 2

    Another leak: the oil dipstick.

But I made some progress, anyway.

I finally had time today to put the wheels back on, fix the horn circuit, and go for a drive for the first time this year!

Installed new exhaust flanges. Passenger side shown. The oil drip you see is just there because I hadn't wiped everything down yet -- I used some oil to help the new nuts go on the old threads.

After a bit of a crash-course I finally welded up my LCAs. 3 more weeks to get the car ready for MOT!
