The problem with carriage bolts or elevator bolts is if you ever had to remove the facia in the future you'd have no way to hold the head of the bolt. So it is very likely that the bolt would just spin in the plastic facia. Whereas if you used an Allen head or torx head you'd have a way to hold the other side while you loosened the nut.
What about plastic fir tree clips? They'll never rust, don't rattle, easy to buy and replace, easy to remove.
