Brake master cylinder-to-servo gasket

Hello,

Can anyone tell me purpose of the rubber seal between the brake master cylinder and the servo??

Currently my car doesnt have one, but does have a rubber disk around the pushrod inside the servo. Its ID is close fitting to the pushrod, and the OD of this disk fits against the wall of the tunnel the pushrod runs in.

Its not shown in parts diagrams, but does this sound familiar to anyone?

Anyway, do I need the gasket (105544) as per the pic?

Actually pretty useless. There is a huge vent at the bottom anyway so it's not like it's sealing anything. It may keep a slight bit of rainwater out from above. Sealant would be fine.

The master cylinder is on now, so maybe I'll just live without it!

Have you ever seen the dust shield (black rubbery plastic) thing I describe? I suppose this will do the same re dust, rainwater etc.

Not specifically, but I suspect it isn't a separate part from the whole booster assembly.
