This owner bought his car in 1984 from John Delorean's nephew. It already came painted (done at Charles Delorean Cadillac). Cool story behind it. 170mph speedominter, Island Turbo Kit, centerforce clutch. Was on the cover of DW magazine back in 93.

Cool looking car. Do you have any shots of speedo or engine?

The VIN is 10006. Rumor has it that this was one of the 1st Deloreans with the Island Turbo Kit.

Has he ever ran it on a dyno to see how much HP and torque the Island set up actually produces over the stock engine? I've never seen any actual numbers on the Island.

Not sure if it's been ever dynoed. Back in the 80's the owner raced Porsches and Corvettes with it (and beat them!) He was trying to race an Ferrari once and his turbo wastegate stuck open at 10 psi. Luckily he got it fixed before it did any damage to the motor.

I remember this car from DCS2000 in Cleveland. Very nice.

I remember the car in a back issue of the DW magazine.
What's the blue cylinder in the engine compartment?

The blue canister holds oil for the turbo wastegates.

The blue cylinder is a oil accumulator or per oiler. It is used to provide oil to the turbo bearings after shut down. Same concept as a turbo timer.

We have worked on this car several times, the owner has great stories about it. He ran the Lap of America in it a while back (referenced in his license plates). Great paint job on the car, it really stands out in a crowd of DeLoreans.
