After a particularly satisfying drive. I didn't drive her much at all so far this year, probably 500ish miles so this was a nice treat to get 100 in on a single day.

When I got the car the old headlights were very dim and dangerous to drive at night. The LED lights make the signs show up brighter. I'm slowly converting the whole car to LEDs.

If I find any LED lights that look like the old style I'd go for it.

I guess I kinda asked because I've only seen one car in person with LED headlights and they were blindingly bright. Like the sort of bright that you would assume is illegal. I don't think we'll ever be driving towards each other from the opposite direction, so this can be someone else's problem, but man are lights that bright ever dangerous for other drivers.

I have the Halogen upgrade. Basically it's just a sealed beam housing with a replaceable h7&H4bulbs (maybe different, I can't remember). They do a great job and still look like the OE sealed beams both on and off.

I just checked and they are out of stock but they are readily avaliable from almost anywhere.

I have them pointed down further than most. I also tested them driving in front of my own car to make sure I don't blind someone into driving into me.

Now that has to be one of the most interesting DeLorean pictures I've seen (at least enough to make me comment on it). Yes there are a few around, but not all that many DeLoreans with "88" on their plate, and then at the one place on the planet with a sign with two references to "88".

Very cool!

Anyone seen the 11.22.63 mini-series that was on Hulu originally? It starred James Franco, was written by Stephen King and part of it was filmed right around the corner from me in Guelph, Ontario. It is a time travelling sort of story about going back to prevent the Kennedy assassination.

The diner isn't there anymore and neither is the closet or wormhole. I thought I'd bring the next best thing. If you've seen the show, you'll get the reference.

I did a local car show for the first time over the weekend and people loved the car. One guy in particular is a reporter for the local online news and a BTTF fan. We talked about the car and he asked if I'd be willing to do an interview for the "paper." I agreed and we did the interview Monday. I took him for a ride and we stopped at a spot for some pictures. He sent me copies and they're pretty good. As a fairly new owner, they are definitely the best ones I have of the car so far...

Here are some photos of my 'initial' DeLorean. I created this model from a BTTF body. The model was a promotional toy given to customers who purchased "Boss" cologne.

Now here is where the story gets interesting, this model was made 3 years before I actually acquired my car. I figured back then, I would never be able to own such a car, so I made this miniature I could enjoy in any kind of 'driving weather' in my home. (I think the DeLorean Gods where involved after seeing my model)

The model 'sports' headlights, turn signals, brake lights(when car stops) and full control on throttle and steering, great fun my mini-me! vin # 00001

Tilt shift is an old school way of making a double exposure to make the foreground and background surrounding the subject look slightly out of focus, and punching up the colors to make your subject look like a scale model in a diorama. Most cameras these days do that with one menu setting.

Twilight is one of my favorite lighting conditions for these cars. The first one at ground level is great. And I agree about the doors...these cars look awesome with the doors closed, in fact they look good from any angle.

One thing I try to do is step away from my subject to give a more honest depiction of the car's true shape as it is in person. You know the front of the car with the doors up on the DOA logos? That's hideous and the picture used to make that logo was taken from a very near position forcing the camera to give us a perspective that is not 100% accurate. If that same picture was taken from 30' away and zoomed in to frame instead of 3' away, the fisheye/peep hole perspective would be gone leaving one strikingly gorgeous car. Instead we get this morphed stupid looking front end and a pair of doors, no fender flares, no mirrors, no real body width because it is all covered up by standing too close to the front.

Too damn close:

Here's one I took yesterday on a little rally up Angels Crest Highway... incorporates enhanced perspective & fisheye.

Tilt shift is an old school way of making a double exposure to make the foreground and background surrounding the subject look slightly out of focus, and punching up the colors to make your subject look like a scale model in a diorama. Most cameras these days do that with one menu setting.Oh okay as I didn't know what you meant by that and I wasn't trying to go for no trick photography or anything like that because I simply just took it in the Twilight hours of the evening would just my camera phone and just trying to hurry up because I had dinner in the oven lol. Besides the first shot of it at ground level I got from my seven-year-old son because the crazy angles he takes pictures with his camera phone or my digital camera when we're at car shows or pictures he has taken at our club events is really astonishing for a little seven-year-old boy! Getting camera shots at his height level really changes how you look at things.

53327Yeah yeah see what you mean and I definitely like the second picture better because I like seeing shots of the car where you can get a three-dimensional look at the different angles of the car of down the sides, the front, a little bit of the roof line. Something that shows the actual true form of the car. With this kind of car and the angular shapes and sharp lines that it has it's really almost impossible to take a bad shot unless you do the fish eye thing and that up close photo that you first posted.

My wife had this made for me a few months ago. It's a hardwood panel with your image bonded to it and coated. It looks very contemporary especially since she made it a collage with some of my fav. pics.

The only picture that is not mine is the one that a fellow member took of his car with the cover on it(I always liked that one).

Did really well, honestly had no issues at all. Just don't go barreling into corners and it does really well. Having all that weight to the rear helps going over the mountains, I think.

Few other snow shots from that trip:

Needless to say it was washed right after that shot and then taken to the undercarriage car wash the next morning.

I think the weight distribution really does help and when I drive mine in the rain I notice it does really well especially going through the mountains myself as I work outside of DC and drive through the mountains to get to West Virginia and I've gone through a couple of really heavy downpours and had no issues! That's a good thing that you went to the undercarriage car wash to get rid of all that crap off the frame and that's still cool to see it DeLorean that has been actually driven in the snow and treated like the car that it is and not keeping them all cramped up in the garage all the time!

Totally agree.

The stainless screams a little too loud in direct sunlight but it always looks fantastic under a layer of light cloud or fog. The diffusion of the sunlight from cloud-cover balances the stainless and always makes for the best photos. Top tip.

Found some old photos of our DeLorean that we use to own, VIN# 04254. We owned this DeLorean from 1993-2001. I was with the car from elementary school through 10th grade high school until my parents decided to sell it. I was devastated. This was our Sunday driver, pampered, and low mileage dream.

57342
57343
57344

It was then sold to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA in 2001. It was used as a promotion for their opening of the Ireland section of the park. It made an appearance in Norfolk, VA for a St. Patricks Day parade with the car covered in a giant decal. My friend and I took photos with the car as it was actually broken down and parked in this lot. Someone who was driving in the parade kept the car in first the whole time and burned out the clutch. I haven't been able to find ANY other photos of the car while it was at Busch Gardens or at the parade that day.

57345

I have more photos of the car from growing up that I will find and upload and also more of the Busch Gardens time frame. The car ended up being raffled off to a lucky winner and then it disappeared until around 2008 I believe when it popped up on eBay. I emailed the seller just letting them know that we use to own the car and that I was happy to see it in great shape etc. but I got a reply saying that he was the original owner of the car and turned it into an argument for whatever reason. I still have some of the original items from the car and records, and I know the VIN number by heart so I know that it was our old DeLorean. When it sold on eBay it pretty much disappeared again only this time when the Carfax is checked it hasn't been registered since 2008, (10 years), so no clue what happened to the car and I've been on the search for it ever since.

The car is rough but this photo makes it look way better than it is. Can't beat an overcast sky on a DeLorean.

Now THAT's a good looking stance! Did you do anything to the rears(fronts) to make them fit? What sizes are you running?

vwdmc16
11-21-2018, 10:29 PM
Thanks! I love it too.

Yes there were some big changes to fit them, wheels are untouched while wearing 205/50R15 (pretty identical in diameter to stock 14") but the front hubs a not Delorean anymore.

Going to 15 in front was required for my 280mm StopTech brakes to fit. Since I'm using a ford Escort wheel hub and custom brake caliper bracket I was also able to narrow the front track 20mm; after trying it at stock width and having issues with the tire hitting the front of the fender arch.

There is more info in my thread below.

Found this while going through some old pics on my hard drive. As you may remember, my Delorean was my 4-season daily driver, and I used it to take my son to daycare on the way to work. Apparently you're supposed to use a minivan for that. I didn't get the memo.

https://i.ibb.co/ZN9tZhd/whichoneisnotthesame.jpg (https://ibb.co/1bchS9Z)

I replaced the Delorean with a Porsche 944 because it actually had a back seat. Then I found a good deal on a '67 P1800, so sold the Porsche and now have that.

Nice picture. I bet you were the cool Dad! Nowadays it seems the crossover SUV is the soccer moms ride of choice. I told my wife when we got married (in the 90's) that I would "never buy a minivan, so don't ask". So, we drove an SUV instead before they were the craze. I replaced it with the Magnum R/T. I guess that's my minivan. (Apologies to minivan owners- it's just preferences ;) )

I saw a 1,000 hp Jeep Grand Cherokee the other day. :jawdrop: Man, SUV's have come a long way in 20 years!

But I'm more a fan of showing how comically tiny she is compared to nearly everything else.

Are all your black parts armor-all or is that just fresh paint? It certainly does give that car a new look.

Some of the better shots of my interiors after using Groits Garage leather conditioner.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170509/93b34d8212aa5ffd20164be37bfdce8c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170509/3bdf17419ee795dd924b9e88ba07274a.jpg

Not sure if this guy still goes on here. Does anybody know what the deal is with his steering wheel? Is that something he custom made or is it available still.

Are you referring to the DMC badge?
It looks like the ones that DMCMW had made in 2016.
They were selling them for 30 dollars at the time. I didn't get one because I thought it was a little spendy. Other than that people have made there own. I have talked to them about making more but to no avail. Maybe not enough interest?

All bare plastic. The fascja strips were polished, everything else has a minimal level of dressing with the only exception being the rear quarter glass intake scoops. They were painted

Not just the badge, my wheel is all black. The spokes are black and there are no Crome rings on the actual grip circle. Mine doesn’t look bad, but that thing is sharp.

Well it's a aftermarket momo millenium evo steering wheel. It needs a special hub. I have one on my car. There $350 to $400. There is a knock off that is about $50.
I think momo discontinued it. There getting harder to find.
For some reason I'm thinking you got one? I'm probably thinking of someone else.

I always liked those quarter panel intake scoops, seems like a great engineering idea to help cool the engine bay. But I wonder how they are secured. Looks like in picture 4 they are missing (hopefully that's a before picture). Any trouble at 75-80 MPH?

Ahh yes, I see one on the bay. My (stock) wheel is in good shape. Kind of hard to spend $400 to replace something that ain’t broke. Might have to be a Christmas present. Lol.

I’m sure Micheal will correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe they cool the engine. The one on the pax side is for a “cold air intake”. Possibly some “ram” air effect. Should be good for mpg. The other one is just for matching looks.

The intake scoops are reminiscent of the Legend days. The right side actually does lead to a sealed intake track so I guess it is technically it's a "ram air"

The passenger side just balances it out however it does cool the power antenna and I have noticed the radio starts speaking Japanese at speeds over 60mph.

They are secured via some strong double sided tape. I think I would dent the panel if I tried to pull one off but as a safety measure, they included one zip tie to give it a fail safe from it flying off if something were to hit it.

The 4th pic is my other DeLorean.

Yep, I actually knew that, but was being thoughtful as to what might have been. Thought additional engine bay cooling by air could augment the coolant system somewhat...

Wow, how silly am I. Got me!

Again, I’m blown away by how your “under hood” is cleaner than the outside (or interior) of my car.

Your second pic had me looking close for bit. Ha-ha.
