Does anyone have any good pictures as to how the throttle cable is supposed to be run? A mechanic replaced the entire cable (outer and inner) a while ago and it was done wrong. They way that it is currently is that it comes up from the pedal, across the fiberglass towards the heater box, goes down into the passenger footwell along the tunnel side, then back up to the center padding under the storage shelf, then through the firewall into the engine bay.

I never knew this is not how it was supposed to be after many people commented on how hard my pedal was to press. I am under the assumption that it should be routed straight back ON TOP OF the center tunnel fiberglass (right under the center console). Before that though, how is it supposed to be routed from the pedal to past the radio? Does it just snake under the center air vents and then around the radio bracket?

I tried looking at the manuals, but the illustrated pictures leave a lot to the imagination. Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to fix the issue. Having the cable make so many turns and dips before reaching the throttle spool does not allow for full throttle (cable is too short).

Steve,
It's pretty direct on my car. From the pedal, it points up & does a fairly tight 180 to point almost straight down up near the front "firewall". Mine is loosely zip-tied to the main harness behind the stereo & heads over to the right side, then on top of the tunnel along the right side with the main harness & straight back to the rear "firewall" where it passes through to the right side of the engine.

Other than running unnecessarily along the side of your center tunnel, I would make sure it's not held in too tight of a bend near the pedal. You pedal was REALLY tight when I drove your car.

So far, so good. Am guessing your mechanic was too lazy to pull the center console and put the cable where it belongs, so it's short now.

Starting with what you have I'd disconnect the engine end of the cable and pull it back through the passenger compartment, making a loop above the passenger footwell until you get it all. I'm not sure where it goes relative to the radio.

Do not kink it. If you find a kink then get a new cable or try to work the kink out otherwise you will still have some binding.

Then you will lift the center console to properly route it along the right side on top of the tunnel, like Justin says, then thru/under the parcel shelf mat and to the hole to the engine bay. The hole with the rubber grommet-seal around the new cable....

Photos show the cable where it routes forward of the console on right side of carpeted tunnel toward the back of the dash area and also shows it to right of the console tray hole at back of the console.
