Hello Everyone,

My name is Ed and I was an owner a few years ago before I sold my car. I am going to start posting again to document the VR6 engine swap I will be doing to Jeremiah's 81 automatic; I had to keep my promise that I would do something special for his car one day. Now that I do not travel as much for work I have been working on peoples cars. You may ask why a VR6, the answer is it's a very compact and strong 6 cylinder engine that loves boost. It's similar in strength to the 2JZ supra engine I put in my car a few years back. It also sounds like no other!! We're only shooting for 250hp at the wheels so it'll have no problems with that.

The engine we picked is out of a 2001 VW Passat with about 65K miles on it. I'm pulling the head off and cleaning it up and pulling a head gasket to lower the compression a little and put some head studs in just for the added protection. I'm in the middle of developing an adapter plate for the DeLorean that should work for the auto or manual transmission, the trick will be setting up the clutch and flywheel for a manual car.

Here are a few shots of the engine as I was pulling it apart:

This is the first test plate I had cut just to see how things will need to come together.

Here is a shot of my 2005 350z VR6 swap I'm also doing. I'm shooting for about 700hp at the wheels with this one.

Welcome back Ed!!:D

So are you switching Jeremiah's car to a manual (I hope!).

No, we're keeping it Automatic and adding a large oil cooler to keep it happy. We may look into having the transmission upgraded later on down the road and turn up the boost and see what she does.

Very cool project! I'm excreted to follow this one! It's sweet that you're going to work with the automatic. It should be nice just having to make a custom flex plate instead of doing a custom clutch/flywheel setup like on the 2jz car. I notice the starter is on the wrong side. It's a pain having to chop up the bell housing to get the starter in there. Course I know you're no stranger to extensive bellhousing modifications, haha. I remember spending quite a bit of time under the 2jz car taking measurements just as a reference. Did you do that welding?

By the way, do you remember the company that you got the custom CV boots from? Is it the same company that made the larger diameter double splined shafts? Also are you still down here in Florida? I'm in Orlando now permanently. I don't know if you remember but I came and checked out the 2JZ car for Cliff back in 2011 before you sold it. I'd love to come check out the build sometime if you're free! Anyway, it's cool to see you back on the forum!

I was wondering when Eddie was going to come make the announcement. I have been chomping at the bit wanting to tell, but since he's doing all the work, I wanted him to have the honor of sounding the alarm.

I plan on sending my car to him around October - before the ice and snow makes its way to Dayton. It was funny how this all came about. He called me about 1 month ago while 2 other owners and myself were at a car show, and we mentioned doing this for real. At the time, we were going to simply EFI the car and place a turbo on it. After a couple days, Eddie and I got to talking, and I put it to him his way: "It would be a waste of your time and talent to simply throw a turbo on a 30 yr old engine that may not even be able to handle it." He and I quickly started talking about other options, and here we are with the VR6 swap kicking into gear.

Some have asked me why the VR6 - simply put - I have owned my car 10 years this Nov 11th, and I have put it off as long as possible - to be frank - I hate the K-Jet system. You just look at it wrong and "BOOM" it goes. I'm tired of continually diagnosing crap on a 32 year old engine. I'm done with it. It ends this year. The other main thing - more power. I'm tired of not being able to "pick up and go" when I want. I'm tired of people saying things like "Can that thing even get to 88 mph?" While I don't want to be a dragster at red lights, I do want some "oomf!" at a moment's notice.

Eddie's work is simply second to none - his attention to detail and methodical work is pristine. There is no one else I would trust with this level of work (in terms of a VR6 swap), and I know the finished product will be worth waiting for. Some may ask why I didn't do this myself. Well, sometimes you just have to recognize your limits and capabilities. And while I know I am capable of many great things, this is something that my skillsets aren't ready for yet. Simple as that.

So the big question everyone has: when will it be done. Eddie and I don't want to narrow it down too much - as unforseen setbacks inevitably occur with projects like this. Best way to say it: you make it to DCS 2014, this car should be there.

We will absolutely keep everyone up to date with this project as time goes along. Enjoy the show!

The way this starter will be set I hopefully won't need to cut up the bell housing. I got the axles from "The driveshaft shop", talk to Frank and he'll remember the car. Sure I remember you, PM me and I'll give you my contact info. I still live in the same house to you can come on over anytime.

An idea of putting a VR6 into the DeLorean has crossed my mind a while ago but I was put off by the weight of the engine. Do you the difference in weight between PRV and VR6?
I never found any real numbers but I know that the block is cast iron and must be heavy. I had a chance to help a friend load one of those engines on a pickup truck and it felt a lot heavier that the PRV. I wonder how the weight difference will affect the handling.

08-11-2013, 10:40 PM
It's hard to compare from numbers you get on line but from what I just looked up they are about the same weight. wiki says the PRV is about 330lbs I found someone who weighed a complete 12v VR6 long block at 300lbs, so add the alternator intake... we should be within 50lbs in the end.

Tomcio

[...] we should be within 50lbs in the end.

That doesn't sound like a problem then. It did feel like it was a lot heavier but that might be because it's easier to grab the PRV with 90 degree heads.
Good luck!

So I was able to get some more work done now that some parts came in. I was able to do a refresh on the head and upgraded the valve stem seals. I have the new timing chains and rails in with all new OE parts. I'm waiting on the head gasket so that we can make a custom spacer to get the ~9.2:1 compression I want for this build. The adapter test plate came out very close, I just have to move some of the bolt holes so that they are dead on. I'm also in the middle of having the a new flange machined so that I can make a turbo intake setup that will bolt to the stock lower intake manifold.

Here are a few pics of the progress:

While a turbocharged VR6 DeLorean does sound pretty SWEET, seeing this thread got me thinking - I wonder if you could adapt the parallel supercharger/turbocharger combo of the VW 1.4L TSI engine onto the VR6, as a twincharged DeLorean would be something really SPECTACULAR

Of course, even better would be a dual twincharged system - 2 superchargers, 2 turbochargers

Eddie and I have been talking about his upcoming shop for a good bit. While I do not want to take away from his thunder or spotlight, I do want to say this: this is NOT a "DeLorean only" shop he is looking at opening up. This is going to be a "performance/upgrade" shop of other marques which so happens to include the DeLorean.

I'll let him finish off the details - as this is his baby - I just wanted to make sure that was understood. Eddie, if I was wrong about anything above, please feel free to correct any misinformation.

I am just going to get behind a podium for a second. Some here remember Eddie from the x < year 2011 days when we were at DMCTalk.com. In 2005, he came to this forum with some ground-breaking ideas, and at first, the community rejected him. Then he produced some incredible results with multiple engine swaps on the same DeLorean (his own). Finally, he made the 2JZ DeLorean happen, and his name went everywhere on the net - Toyota Supra forums, Magazine forums, DIY engine swap forums, Youtube, etc.

I truly mean this without being an arrogant ass about it: if you can afford it and don't mind waiting, get Eddie on your car for EFI/performance upgrades. We have had one or two forum members fortunate enough to have had their cars majorly overhauled (read: engine swap) by him, and he is worth it. The 2JZ DeLorean is an absolutely pristine example of his work. I have known him for 10 years, and he is a man of integrity - both of his shop work and moral character.

Let's face it - if we want a fast DeLorean, the PRV really needs to go. It is the aircraft carrier boat anchor of the sports car world. When taken care of, it is incredibly reliable and dependable, but it is just too dang slow.

My bottom line regarding my car: we are nearly tripling the HP at the wheels. The automatic can handle what we give it, but you know how things end when one starts "getting too greedy." I won't deny, I pushed Eddie for 300 HP at the wheels, and he assured and convinced me: "250 HP in this car = more than you'll know what to do with."

While I may not be able to "break the chains" with everything to do with DeLoreans, I can tell you three things:

1. My DeLorean will be fast and capable of being made faster down the road with the upcoming VR6 Turbo setup.
2. I'll never be paying $150 for a thermotime switch.
3. KJet + Idle horrors = poof.

Oh, and I will be selling my entire PRV engine soon. It will come with everything: my entire KJet setup, alternator, water pump, starter - everything that bolts onto that PRV will pretty much be coming with it. I'll start a thread for it in the For Sale: Parts Section soon.

Venturi pushed over 400+ bhp out of the Douvrin PRV, as is John Lane with his rally car. Thus, it's possible to build a monster out of the PRV - like anything else, it just takes time, dedication, and resources.

While producing power out of any engine is possible (including the PRV) I don't believe a 400HP PRV would be easy, cheap or street drivable....

For the record, I truly hope I do not come across as haughty, arrogant, or holier than thou with regards to what Eddie is doing to my car.

I know how blessed and fortunate I am to both have the connections and financial means to afford such a project.

I just want my car to be a testament to his work and a preview of what he could do for others who may be potentially interested.

The VR6 is about a 25 year old engine... You were cautious about your post but you seemed very sure about the prv being a poor engine performance wise. There were many derivatives of the prv, you have experienced one of them. For this reason I found your comments ignorant. Also its not like the 12V VR6 is making boatloads of power more than the PRV stock for stock. However the F/I aftermarket is huge for it so turboing and tuning the VR6 is definitely not the road less traveled and there is a lot of potential.

Educate yourself with the European applications of the PRV. Lots of cars making decent numbers from this so called "boat anchor". FYI its an aluminum block so it would make a terrible anchor anyway.

To the OP sorry for muddying your thread with these comments, you are doing great work. Keep it up!

Sounds good! Last summer, right before DCS, Cliff and I were both trying to get the AC going on my car and the supra car and we really went back and forth on what to use. In the end we each decided to keep to the original R12. Really, if I can get a hold of my own vacuum pump I'm sure I can do it myself; but if not I'll have to have someone else suck the R-12 out. All future plans though.

Anyway, I'm stoked about you getting back into DeLoreans! Looks like a straight shot to Melbourne down 192 for me (bout an hour). Once Disney slips down into low season and my weekends start freeing up, I'll definitely come by. Jeremiah is sending the car in October right? Ok, no pics but here is what will be going on the next couple of weeks. I should have the final designs for the intake manifold flange and the head gasket spacer this week and then they go off to the machine shop to be made. The new flex plate is being made out of a VR6 and 350z unit and just so happens to fit nice and snug on the DeLorean torque converter. The second adapter test plate came out VERY close and I only had to adjust a few holes to make it perfect. Once the holes all line up the plate will be ready to be CNC machined out of a 1" thick aluminum block. I made sure I will be able to use this design for a manual car in the future..?

Mods, please let me know if I am out of line here...

"SEO Motorsports" will be open for business in Melbourne FL by October to receive Jeremiah's DeLorean along with a few others coming for some basic maintenance and service and one EFI upgrade. I will be performing work by appointment only as I like to give each customer the attention they deserve. What I plan to specialize in is providing real performance solutions worth the money you paid. The main focus will be on EFI upgrades to the stock PRV, turbocharging and complete motor swaps; of course I can take care of those other pesky things you want done while we're at it. Just pick a number between 200 and 400 Wheel Horse Power and that's what you'll get on the dyno, no estimates or gimmicks here. I also like to deal with Firm Fixed Pricing so you know what you're going to pay with no surprises. If you would like to purchase parts from your favorite vendor and have them drop shipped to the shop to have them installed, I am 110% ok with that. PM me if you are interested in pricing or to book an appointment in advance.

Ok, I've made some progress the past week so I'll share some pics. I got the new head spacer designed and machined out of stainless and I have to say it came out very nice. I was able to get the head installed with cams and upper covers. The next step is to get the turbo oil return welded onto the new oil pan that came in and then I will have the engine mostly finished.

Moving back to the transmission adapter, the latest test plate was spot on. Having a DeLorean available to be here I was able to take closer measurements and the engine will fit just fine. I did notice I will have to make changes to my adapter plate to get around the lower cross member but that is a simple fix. now that the engine is back together I can turn my attention to finishing the adapter and flex plate before Jeremiah's car shows up to the shop.

Little update on the shop, I'm in the middle of signing the lease to the new building. We are setting everything up to open the doors the beginning of November.

This one is done in Solidworks. My normal plates are water jet cut out of thinner plate. Due to how the DeLorean Auto transmission and the VR6 have to come together, it has to be cut out of a thicker piece with cutouts.

Interesting, I am not familiar with the delorean flex plate setup. Solidworks is my program of choice too, however I seem to be using inventor a lot these days. Is there any work being done to the transmission to hold the power of the new engine?

Nothing is being done to the transmission other than an upgraded torque converter and holding back the power to 250whp. This VR6 will easily push 400whp.

Ok, here are some updates for everyone. I received the new torque converter from Dave at DMC and it looks great. I need to finish adjusting the flex plate and starter spacing and it should be ready to go in the car. The goal is to have it in the car on its own this month.

The adapter was CNC machined from a solid block of aluminum. The guy who does my work machines parts for turbine engines.

Here it is bolted up to the VR6 engine and automatic bell housing. It's going to fit perfect in the car.

Stainless head gasket? Never heard of anyone doing a head gasket out of stainless before. Doesn't seem like the best material for the job. What was the reasoning behind that one?

That stainless piece actually goes between the gasket and lowers the compression ratio on the engine. It's about 9:1 now from 10:1.

Are you running 2 head gaskets (one on top and one below the spacer)?

Also where is the flexplate from. Looks like the Delorean ring gear was welded on. Is the flexplate from a Volkswagen?

It's a MLS gasket you remove the thin middle layer and replace it with the spacer.

The flex plate is an OEM VR6 unit with a 350z ring gear on the outer edge. I have to do final welding and then send it off to be balanced at the machine shop.

So, Eddie got the car on his lift lastnight. He noted some areas of the frame that will be addressed once the engine is installed. Nothing that makes/breaks the project - just areas that need to be focused on so when the engine is fully installed, the frame's integrity is solid.

As far as the rest of the car, Eddie feels solid about the integrity of the car as a whole. The LCAs will get some attention to make sure they're solid and sound for the engine job/suspension work coming, but overall, all is well with the pacing of the project. Last we spoke, the PRV will be getting yanked out soon, and the new engine will be getting dropped in. I'd say look for this kind of stuff to happen by the month's end. Obviously, this is all tentative, but I know Eddie; he doesn't like to sit around very long.

Wrote the last check yesterday to pay this project off. Now I "own it" so to speak :P.

So today I got the engine ready to pull out tomorrow. Once the engine is out I'll spend some time cleaning the engine bay. It'll still have far more room than the PRV or any other V6. The engine was designed for a fwd application so the alternator and AC compressor hug the engine very close. The intake is going to be close to the engine too. I am also going to run the charge piping hidden in the pontoon and rear bumper like I did on the 2JZ car. This is an INTAKE manifold. Even any old regular paint would be fine here as this part doesn't get that hot. There's a fair amount of cool air coming in cooling it from the inside. BTW, if the intake got ever hot enough to actually burn the paint off the engine would die. Even with aggressive forced induction the intake temperature has to be low enough to prevent detonation.

Thank you!!

I got more work done on Jeremiah's car. I finished the coolant pipes so that is all done. I had to machine a custom adapter to fit the GM sensor in the VW thermostat housing and it cam out great. I have to make one more for the DeLorean engine temp gauge sender. I put some oil in the engine and cranked it over to prime the system and it turned right over with no issues. I need to finish up the throttle body and intake, heater core hoses to the engine and then I move on to the A/C lines. One all the hardware is on the engine I can begin wiring everything in the engine bay. I figure we are about three or four weeks before this thing starts for the first time if all goes well!!

Based on Eds previous style, I would guess the intercooler is in the pontoon and in front of the condenser.

My plan for this car is an air to air intercooler in the pontoon with a fan controlled by the ECU. It will be activated under certain conditions.

Here's an Elephant in the room question. Any particular reason why the intake is tipped up like that? I understand the simplicity in using the square box aluminum, just not the ODD angle. Just curious.

The angle is dictated by the lower intake manifold. It's made of plastic so you really can't modify it, on the other hand you don't get the bad heat transfer from the head. Because it's a turbo engine, a bigger plenum is desired and the reason for not using the OEM upper intake.

I finally got the heater core lines finished up. I had to machine an adapter to go from the VW 1" inlet to the thermostat housing to the 5/8" hose on the car. This week I plan to install the alternator and A/C compressor and start wiring the engine and ECU to the car. I purchased my own AC line crimper so I can make my own lines since I'm doing so many engine swaps and A/C is a must in Florida.

I did not realize there was a lower Manifold or that it was plastic. I though you had made your own runner tubes. It all makes sense now.

Yes, I reuse the VW lower intake because it works out great as it holds the injectors and fuel rail. I have a plate CNC machined to bolt to the lower intake using the stock VW gaskets. This plate allows me to build whatever plenum I need for various applications.

So I buttoned up the underside of Jeremiah's car tonight and got the fuel lines hooked up to the engine. WOW 1/4" fuel injection hose a $4 a foot!!!! I also started wiring up the starter and running the cable to the alternator that will eventually go to the jump start post. I have the alternator at my rebuilder right now making sure it's going to give us any issues any time soon. I swapped location with Sam's car because I had to pull the exhaust off his for gaskets. I plan to start wiring in the ECU to the car and VR6 engine this week. I need to finish up a few more basic things and then I can start this thing up!! Then I will begin with the exhaust, intercooler and charge piping.

Going into this, it was one thing for him to put a 2JZ in his personal car.

It is a whole other thing to put an engine into a "customer's" car where he's on a time-table, and there isn't the luxury of "Well, it's my car so no big deal."

He has delivered on every level up to this point. The bill was easily worth it; I'll never look back in regret over this.

There are going to be some sad drivers soon when they think they're going to blow the doors off of this. I'm considering making my license plate "SRPRISE"...... (:

Thank you guy, I always appreciate the comments! It makes the late nights and hard work worth it.

Tonight I got the new Eibach springs from DMCMW and Spax shocks from DPI installed in the rear, fronts will be done tomorrow. I got the high side line on the AC compressor connected and need to figure out a way to go from 5/8" hose to #10 for the low side. I may have to have John Hervey make me a line that I'll crimp the final end at the shop. He sells the newer modern size (#10) for the low side from what I remember when doing my car years ago. I have most of the exhaust components coming and am still working on what intercooler I want, I should have that coming soon too. The car looks so much better with the new lowering springs I must say. Before I started plumbing the charge piping and exhaust I wanted to make sure that there were no issues with the cars drivability so I took is for a drive on the main road. I got it up to about 55mph and it was smooth with no sign of drivetrain issues. The main concern with adapters is the alignment between the transmission and the engine's crankshaft, if it's off you will get vibrations and start breaking things. I'm hoping to have it buttoned up in two weeks.

All I can think about is the time someone slid into my DeLorean at a stoplight. The road was slick & it was dusk. The person fled the scene (naturally the DeLorean was too damned slow to catch up to them). No real damage to my car... the foam behind the bumper did it's job. But if the same thing happened to Jeremiah's car, it could possibly disable his vehicle. Not a knock against him or Eddie, but this solution makes me a tad uneasy.

Eddie will step in soon and clarify this.

Keep in mind the latest photos Eddie posted are "progress photos" not finished photos.
As Eddie has previously mentioned, many views are final mockup photos, in progress.

There are plenty of possible options to partially modify the foam out back to allow for
the intake pipe to pass through, while still protect and support the rear fascia, etc. in
the rear of the car. With Eddie's fabrication skills, a custom solution is a given.

With flexible couplers to this intake pipe, I doubt that a minor rear collision would
disable the car (probably just cause this intake pipe to be disconnected).

Excellent progress so far Eddie. Keep up the great work.

Hmm... Depending on the wall thickness, that aluminum pipe might not be a bad energy absorber in itself, dissipating energy as it's mashed flat just like the foam was intended to do.

Hmm... Depending on the wall thickness, that aluminum pipe might not be a bad energy absorber in itself, dissipating energy as it's mashed flat just like the foam was intended to do.

It might even be better at impact absorbtion than the foam. But like I mentioned, the car would be disabled vs being able to drive away with little/no damage, though. And with this being such a 1-off custom job, what would normally be a small/non issue is turned into a big problem.

I'm all for engine swaps & performance upgrades, don't get me wrong. I've watched this thread like an excited kid. However, mods should only add to the vehicle's performance, and not take away. Removing impact foam from a bumper is taking away from the vehicle's crash performance... something I personally would not do. The saving grace about this swap is the rear frame crossmember behind the bumper isn't being removed. It's downright frightening when people do that. Just my humble two cents.

I had a person hit the back of my DeLorean before - it was in stop and go traffic, and the driver behind me was taking photos or video of my car with her phone while she was driving. She didn't notice me stopping, and ended up driving into my car at about 10mph.

I didn't take any photos, but she completely compressed my rear fascia and her car was almost stuck under mine. After she reversed back out of my car, my fascia returned to normal shape, although the impact actually broke her front bumper (she was driving a Fiat Punto).

I drove home without any damage to my car that day. I'm not questioning Eddie's skills as a fabricator, but I am questioning the wisdom of running the charge pipe in the location shown. If I was spending big bucks on an engine conversion, I wouldn't want the car possibly disabled (along with possible rear quarter panel damage) by a very minor rear end collision due to losing the foam impact absorber. Depending on his plans for the exhaust, there looks to be room in the engine bay to route the charge cooler pipe elsewhere and avoid this issue.

This car along with the 2JZ car run the charge piping this way to reduce clutter in the engine bay and weight in the rear. If you have ever picked one up you would be surprised how heavy they are. It's a flat bar of aluminum with foam molded on it. It was discussed to run the charge piping in the engine bay but it was decided to run it as shown in the photo. I can run it many ways, so keeping the 5mph crash foam bumper is not a problem. I allow many parts of my engine swaps to be decided by the customer allowing them to add their own personal touch/enhancements. An example being how Samuel wanted the wires cleaned up for his EFI and turbo upgrade, it was done as requested. You have to remember, there is a hunk of German iron in the back too. If it gets past that, you have bigger problems to worry about! IMO, 5mph protection is not what I would call a significant safety concern. That aluminum piping probably provides 1.37mph protection.

Hi Ed - Just brilliant packaging, well done! Would you considering selling another VR6/UN1 adapter (either in physical form or a .stl / tool path copy of the model)?

Thanks!

So, with the inter-cooler in the pontoon, are you just going to put a cone style air filter on the turbo's intake and draw your intake air from the engine bay? Are you doing any kind of modification with the outside vent or pontoon so that it will create a vacuum like effect of drawing outside air into the pontoon and pushing it through the inter-cooler, for cooler charged air and maximum inter-cooler efficiency? Of course, I'm assuming an air-to-air inter-cooler here, but I could be wrong.

BTW - Looking AWESOME thus far

The intercooler is placed in the pontoon so one side will have a fan and the other is facing towards the engine. I am going to open up a hole in the pontoon, lower half with curve, so the air can exit being pushed by the fan or be sucked out when moving. The intercooler will be shrouded to separate the cool air in the pontoon from the hot air we want to exit out. The fan is controlled by the ECU to turn on when the intake air temp reaches a preset threshold. I learned a lot with my 996 turbo and a good air-to-air ducted intercooler works great.

Today I spent the day cleaning out the shop. I normally pull all the cars out and give them a rinse too and my sister and I decided to take some pics for fun. We also took a few videos of Jeremiah's car with the exhaust 80% complete. I know, I need to teach her to rev an engine so you can get an idea of what it sounds like. This is how all SEO exhausts for DeLoreans will look like going forward. I had some Lockheed Martin engineers do a fluid dynamics simulation and they said it would flow more than what I was planning on pushing it too. I got the idea from Porsche when I saw how they do their intake manifolds and the exhausts I saw on their cars at the Rolex 24hr race. Believe it or not, the rounded tee shape flows a lot more than you think, tubing sized correctly and the two outlets have to be free flowing. I went with this design to keep the weight down and get the heat out of the engine bay. For a stock car I will start with a high flow CAT and finish it off with this same design and significantly reduce weight and heat in the engine bay. This probably gives you a lot more room to work with around the exhaust as well.

Very SWEET!

I like that you're going air-to-air with the intercooler - much better than having to mess with water/coolant and a whole extra system, not to mention that doing so will also help keep weight down. Your air-to-air design looks like it will work brilliantly!

Will the turbo draw its intake air from the engine bay, or do you plan on piping for cold air some way?

Well the OEM Bosch Blow off valve failed on its way home from work on Friday. The diaphragm failed and I could feel it sucking a vacuum from the exit port. I ordered an upgraded aluminum unit to just be done with it. The springs seem to be settling nicely and I plan to raise the rear up just a bit tonight. The wrenches to adjust the rear ride height didn't come with the shock but luckily a neighbor had two and gave them to me, this way I can properly adjust and lock them without beating on them with a hammer. This car is truly a joy to drive......I have to admit it more comfortable to drive around town than a manual car.

To run a matched set of the Cooper CS4 Touring, you have to drop to a 225/60R15 on the rear. No - they are not available in raised white or outlined white lettering - only a black side wall.

They are made in the USA, and are widely available:

I have been having issues with inconsistence running of the engine in Jeremiah's car and was able to pinpoint it to an injector problem the night before the celebration car show. I sent the injectors out to be cleaned and flow tested this week, and the results were not good. I was basically told to throw all of them away, they were junk! One was not even firing at idle and two other would barely run during cruising speeds. I was shocked because I had the car idling decent and it pulled like a freight train. Long story short, the injectors on the MK4 VR6 are an uncommon size so we decided to adapt a more common injector. It was recommended to me to use the VW 1.8t injector so I had a friend bring one over to look at and once I saw it I had an even better idea. I still had my Porsche 996TT injectors from when I upgraded them on my car. These are the same body as the 1.8T units but flow more. So I sent the Porsche injectors out to be cleaned and plan to have the car running with them soon so I can finish the tuning and test these new brakes we're about to install.
