Video went over well this afternoon. Getting a lot of emails now on it from people at work. It is apparently circulating around the office. There is a chance they may play it at our next department quarterly meeting before HR announces anniversaries depending on available time and the meeting schedule. Kind of fun to be a celebrity for a day at work because of this

Doing some routine checks before a big trip tomorrow and out of the blue *BANG, the louvre suddenly slams shut. Check it out and yep, the struts are shot. No warning signs at all just dead.

2.5 lbs of R12 is a bit much. The official spec is 2.25 lbs. As long as it works okay you can probably get away with it.

I believe there was a service bulletin that updated the specification to 2.25 pounds.

Yeah I've found at least 3 different pages in the shop manual the says 2.5 lbs. but at the same time I know I've seen it stated 2.75 lbs some place. (besides the the service bulletin reference)

    Bulletin ST-29 11/81

"The Freon Charge has changed to 2.2 lbs from the previous 2.75 lbs. the new specification was introduced with VIN 4080"

"If knocking noises are observed during starting with the air conditioning ON, the new freon specification should be used"
