I installed new silverstar headlights and the new pump/sender combo unit.

Car idling without any issues and only 2 gallons of gas in the tank. Never would have run properly this low on gas before:

That is what I've been saying for years. What finally got me to pull the trigger was another round of stuttering and issues with my stock setup even after I had replaced the stock internals with OEM style replacements. When that happened, my wife didn't want to ride in the car again for a long while for fear of being stranded. I'm hopeful this is the permanent solution.

I put the combo unit in over 3 years ago, it has been awesome! I did put in the external check valve, never had an issue, but it can't hurt...

Did you have to clean the tank? Wasn't it fun?

Now they ship the kits with the check valve pre-installed in the feed line. Given the history of the one built into the pump, it is mandatory.

Yes, I gave the tank a cleaning. I did a full cleaning a few years back when I replaced all the internals the first time so this was more of a touch up. There was some rubber that deteriorated from the original boot, but not a lot. I still cleaned it out again with acetone, used the shop vac to pick up any small particulates, and did the white glove test to make sure I got it all. Not half as bad as when I did it a few years back. There was thick goo I had to scrape out back then.

My car is finally starting to look like a road-worthy car once again.
New calipers and pads all the way around put on last week. Bought 4 new tires this week... General Altimax RT43's (195-60R-14's) on the front, and Cooper Cobra Radial GT's (235-60R15's) on the rear. Had them all mounted black wall out.

Also new this week... my new DMC two-tone leather seat covers. They turned out amazing if I do say so myself.

Very nice. I had one of these units already installed when I bought the car, so I didn't experience the old set up. However, I definitely recommend it based on my experience so far.

How do you like the silverstars? I bought them as well but haven't installed them yet.
