Replaced bad passenger door strut with very good drivers door strut. Put brand new strut on drivers door. Replaced both luggage compartment struts. Checked under headliners for cave paintings (nothing interesting but I'll put it in the cave paintings thread). Sat in the car and listened to the Back To The Future theme

XXX Motorsports quoted me about 175 to do Red. I'm taking her there to get them done when the engine is finished. I didn't want to do that before I stripped the paint.

I love that almost the first thing you do with your new classic car is start removing trim pieces looking for cartoons. What other car offers such an experience?

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"

Noticed the headliner starting to sag in the rear. The fabric is not coming off of the board -- instead, the board itself seems to have lost a connection somewhere. Going to find the manuals and look up how it is attached. May end up doing the "roof cage fix" while I am at is, since the passenger door tends to squeak going up, and I am told that's a "classic" symptom of a de-forming roof cage.

Let us know how you make out Farrar. Mine has come loose in the same way you've described. Not cloth from board... more that the whole board isn't clipped/screwed in where it should be anymore. Right above the rear window, at that leading edge. I think part of it gets pinned in by the rear interior panels, but I'm not sure. That could be part of it for you too as I know you had your panels out to get at the speakers/seatbelts earlier.

I wanted to after reading the cave paintings thread and seeing all the cool stuff people had found. Besides, they just pop off and on

Any chance you have a list of what LED's to buy for the taillights? I want to finally replace mine. Only issue is that my cruise control cutoff is linked to the brakelights and the first set of LED's I had didn't draw enough to trigger the system. Any idea what these ones are? I'd really love to get LED's back there again.

I have the same issue. What I found is that the bracket/clip that mounts to the roof fiberglass had fallen out due to incomplete installation of the 2 M6 RIVNUTS. It almost seems as though the holes are to big for that size Riv-nut. When pulled, the riv-nut should expand on the back side of the surface you install then into. These expanded at the flange instead. It's as though the Grip range was to short for the material thickness.

Towed the D to DMC FL

I towed my D to DMC FL to get the clutch fixed. I hope they get it done this week so I get the car in time to go to the Celebration car show.

They had 13 Deloreans in the lot and a bunch in the showroom getting worked on. There were several Corvettes and a couple of Mercedes in the lot also.

    Thanks,

    Follow-up:

It appears the wrong Rivnut was installed at the factory they used a SP10613 M6 rivnut approx. 3/4 inch overall length.

It calls for a SP10614 (M6 Rivnut long) which is just shy of 1" overall length.
